Fun stuff Jim. The hustle certainly played out and the manner in which you set the stage and then 'followed through' was great stuff. A 'Tin Cup' adventure if there ever was one. Nice.

Thanks, Kevin. The majority of golf is over for now as the plot soon makes a major turn, but we'll pick it up again at the end.

Very interesting how they work the con. Unfortunately, they seem to have taught the other guys how to make their con even better. Eddie and Kenny are always amusing.

Okay! I've got to say that you kinda-sorta softened my criticism about the sprained ankle (I still have a problem with the swelling, unless the stage-makeup was already applied to his "well" ankle ahead of time so that when he pulled up his pantleg there was the resemblance of swelling. Even so, I thing you need to consider some pre-planting, perhaps as something that would have been confounding when Eddie whispered it to Kenny, but Kenny could have registered an "a-ha! moment" when the pantleg was lifted. Something like, "Don't be too shocked, Pal, when I lift my pantleg a little later." Just a thought. But it would go a long way to resolve issues in the readers' minds.
But you did it, my friend!

Though I didn't really think about the timing too much, I'm guessing that Eddie's theater friend would have applied the swollen ankle effects that morning between the time Eddie had been practicing putting on the 18th green lower level (around 7:30am) and when he later met Kenny in the parking lot around 9:30 or 10:00. He would have had sufficient time for it then.
I will think about letting Kenny see it in advance, but I kind of wanted it to be a bit of a mystery by only hinting at it as he winked at Kenny when it happened. This whole match would have taken perhaps 20-30 minutes to read continuously rather than in chunks over 3 weeks, so I'm not that worried that folks will be confused for too long before it all comes out.
I'm happy you enjoyed the final scene of this match, and I thank you very much for the 6 stars, Jay.
I'll be shifting gears very soon and the story will be taking quite a different turn.

Thanks so much, Jacqueline for your kind review and all the stars. We will soon take a little turn away from golf for a while, but we'll get back to it in the end.

Fantastic 😊

Now, I know how he faked the sprain ankle. That was the part that was confusing me. This is a really good read.
He walked about twenty yards away and just sat down on the fairway, staring back at the tee. (you can omit 'down', it's understood)

Thanks so much, Barbara. Pretty tricky guy. In the next chapter you'll see one more trick that contributed to the result.

Well that was a nail biter. You kept the tension of the game at a high level. The hustle from both pairs kept the suspense at a high. When it came time to settle up the money, I was expecting some hanky-panky, but maybe that doesn't happen, for reputations sake!
Good chapter. Now what happens? We'll stay tuned.

Thanks, John. The story will take a turn for a while, but we'll get back to some golf at the end. It will be quite a bit different, though.

That was great. Thought the pair would skedaddle off and our guys would end shooting them. Never been a betting man, though our seniors throw a fiver in as a team bet twice a week.

Thanks, Julie. I'm so glad it maintained the tension over 5 postings for this match.

It's so good to win, and really if one thinks of it, one has to have supreme confidence to win these matches particularly when they are being hustled, but Eddie and Kenny hustled back, and even E.J. played his part, well done, Jim, great post, blessings Roy

Although I'm far from being a fan of golf and know nothing about it, I read with immense pleasure this greatly written chapter. The work is very clear, with nice dialogues and it's entertaining.
