And the battle continues! At this late stage the game could still be anyone's, particularly if Eddie runs out of dirty tricks. I'm sorry for the poor old caddy though. All the best Jim , Julie Lau

That poor old caddie was based on a real caddie I knew when I was a caddie back in my teens. The real E.J. was also an alcoholic like the E.J. in the story, and was not a very good caddie, but he was a nice guy. Though I didn't know him very well, I thought about him often through the years and decided to invent a story about him--how he got to that place in his life and what he might really be like. Some Call It Luck was the result that I recently posted in its entirety on FanStory.

Oh Jim. You've left me hanging until the very last hole! What a tease. It was only a matter of time before EJ was sent back to the clubhouse. I hope this story has a good outcome and doesn't end in a draw. That would be disappointing. I know you have something up your sleeve Jim. I'll just have to be patient. Have a great day. Jacqueline

Can't keep you hanging too long, Jacqueline. I'll post the conclusion of the match on Friday.

I'll be home by then. You are killing me here Jim. Haha. Have a great day. Jacqueline 😊

Poor T.J. In this book, he is portrayed as more of a problem drinker than in the other. I still maintain (and I'm sorry to say this), that too many important details hinge on the fact that T.J. is drunk and Eddie is counting on his own ability to maneuver T.J., into doing precisely what he wants. Entirely too much luck, in my estimation, is involved. Descriptively, however, your writing excels. Before you send this out, though, I would tighten up those problem areas.

So I can't convince you that E.J.'s being drunk only affected the outcome of 2 holes, whereas the combination of Eddie and Kenny on one ball affected 6 of the other 7 holes. It's a multi-faceted plan, and there's still one more trick up Eddie's sleeve before it's over.
Whether or not I convince you, there's a lot more to the story that will probably be more interesting to you after this match is over in the next chapter, and thanks for the compliment on the writing, Jay. It means a lot.

Quick thinking to get poor E.J. To "accidentally" step on the ball. Looking forward to this next chapter to see if they can pull off a victory and by what means.
Exciting finish, here we come!
Cheers... John

Thanks, John. The story will take a new direction following the match. So glad you've been enjoying it so far.

Please let us know where the new post starts. I remember that happened before. The recap needs to be there for new readers, but not for us old ones.
I can't wait until the final hole. You have me on pins and needles.
"Wha' wazzat?" he said as he bent down to see what he had stepped on. (You can omit 'down' it's understood.)

Thanks, Barbara. Hope you enjoy the conclusion of the match. The story will take a new direction after that.
The recap is always in a smaller font than the actual story.

This chapter was much too lean for me. Over-par. Bogey. Still, i am not going anywhere. Captivated by the game, even with three doubles and two birdies today. I am addicted.

I think you'll enjoy the 18th hole, Tom. The last chapter was a bit of a lull before the storm.

How exciting! Welborn and Fairbanks lose the 16thhole when they go amiss, thanks to E.J. stepping on the opponent's ball, and the progressive result is Eddie and Kenny lose the 17th and now for the deciding 18th. Beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy
Typo : Anything but (a) driver

Thanks, Roy.
Poor E.J. We can at last see why he was provoked into challenging Fairbanks to a match in "Some Call It Luck," (even though it was in his dream.)

Yep, that?s for sure
