I don't understand why this was second place! Its ending is hilarious! I hope it's not a true story. I guess I'll have to read the other contest winners to understand! Very well written!

No, not true. Thank you for your wonderful review and six stars. Greatly appreciated. I wonder what would have happened next? Lol.

Hi Wendy,
This is an imaginative situation. So maybe his dementia started at sea. So how do they reconcile this. Will they stay friends despite this more than slight hiccup. I would guess Cora and John aren't lawfully married because John's real wife is still alive and now he remembers her.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Congrats on placing second in the contest.

Thank you Joan for the congratulations, and for a lovely review. Yes, it is a very awkward situation - maybe they will become friends, but neither of them will want him!

Oh no! Now he's married to two women at the same time? Great story told in just fifty words! This was perfect to do mostly in dialogue, and it really could happen. Perhaps it wasn't really dementia but some kind of fugue syndrome that cleared up when he saw his first wife?
Best wishes in the contest!

Hi Wendy,
Love the humor in your story! So, John is a bigamist! The bounder!
But the problem now rises... who gets John? What if neither of these women want him? After all, he is in and out of dementia. That will only get worse. And we don't want their new friendship to go up in flames. They have a lot in common!
A terrific entry, Wendy, for the Dribble Flash Fiction contest! I really enjoyed it. Good Luck!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Lol. Good questions. My imagination didn?t extend to solving the dilemma. Probably neither will want him! Thanks so much for a super review.

Oh heck no! What an imaginative dribble flash fiction story. It sounds as though John vanished years ago, to marry Cora. As fate had it, the twist in the end has him meeting his first wife, Shirley, again. What a crafty ending. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you very much. Glad you enjoyed this one. Yes, for him it's a bit unfortunate! Will either of them want him now? Lol.

That would certainly be startling to both women! I suppose if John has dementia now, he might have had a bit of amnesia initially. The big question is Who get's John now? :) Good luck in the contest.

Lol. The other question is whether either of them WANTS him now. He'd better withdraw into his dementia and keep his mouth shut. Thanks so much for reviewing, and for your good wishes. Much appreciated.

Now that is the worst case of dementia I've ever heard of. I wonder if he will forget Cora or Shirley in the next couple of minutes. This is a wonderful entry for the contest. Best of luck.

He's in big trouble either way. I think he should withdraw into dementia and keep his mouth shut. I wonder if they would fight over him? Lol. Thanks so much for a fun review and for your good wishes.

This is based on many of the tales from the salty sea, methinks. Laugh out loud funny, but really sad in the betrayal. My goodness, how can John live with himself, I wonder.
Sending you my best today as always and best wishes for the contest.

Could well be. Many choose to disappear for their own purposes. Sometimes never found out. Thanks so much for reviewing, and for the good wishes.

Clever girl you are. I like fiction, you can invent all sorts of scenarios. I wonder where John had been all those years? Lost at sea? More like swanning on an island with native girls dancing. K xx

I think John had better withdraw into his dementia and keep his mouth shut! He?ll have a lot of questions to answer. Would have loved to see their faces. But it?s all in my head. We?ll just have to imagine what came next. Lol. Many thanks again for the wonderful six stars. Such an encouragement.
