Well, Eddie has a plan and it looks like it may work out with him only putting with his special putter. Of course, the guys they are planning to beat were cheating by saying they had handicaps.

Yep, the battle of the hustles. Who will prevail?

I needed my golf fix ... so where better to go than your novel.

"It's dark Jamaican rum. And make sure E.J. gets this one, will ya?" [Now that's not cool!]

Okay, I'm a tad confused. Unless it's plotted into next chapter, the sprained ankle trumped spiking EJ's Coke. Even if the spiked Coke is explained next chapter, it probably wouldn't hurt to have Kenny wonder about that himself during this one.]

The spiked coke and the "sprained" ankle are both parts of Eddie's hustle, and you will see how they both come into play in the next chapter.

Kenny has figured out by now what Eddie has planned. He had asked Eddie when he helped him spike the coke if this was the plan for his hustle, and Eddie said it was only part of it. But now that Kenny sees the scheme to have him hit the long shots, and Eddie will putt, he realizes what a brilliant plan it is because they will be combining their respective talents into one ball for the best-ball. You'll see that they will need both parts of this plan to succeed (plus another as yet undisclosed one) for them to prevail.

I must admit I was struggling to see what EJ had in mind, fooling Wellborn and Fairbanks to a duel on the golf links, I think they've got them, I love the counter hustle, beautifully written my friend, well dine, blessings Roy

ok, I don`t know about this plan. If I´m playing these guys, Kenny and Eddie, the match is going to continue on as planned. However, Eddie certainly puts the pressure on his partner to hit the shots. Let`s see what you come up with.

I think Fairbanks and Wellborn are too arrogant to think someone might be hustling them. They haven't seen the real Eddie's putting yet using his "Starship Enterprise" putter. They're in for a surprise!

I surely hope it works. Is Eddie really hurt or has he figured out a way to fix that too? I can't believe somebody would purposely get hurt over a golf game.

We ordered our drinks and snacks and sat down for a few minutes to relax. & and I told Eddie to just sit down and quit trying to walk on it until Gary (you can omit 'down')

I've been waiting with baited breath for the next instalment to see if Eddie and Kenny can pull it off, and still, I'm left hanging. I'm cheering for the good guys. You really have me involved in this golf game Jim. A story with a great deal of passion and a lot of cheeky humour. I like be it. Keep writing please. I want to know what happens next. Jacqueline

It makes you wonder how much truth is in golf. It sounds like hustling someone at 9-ball in pool. What a wonderfully written chapter. Best of luck with your project!

Have a great day, and God bless.

Thanks so much, Mike. There have been a few well-known hustles over the years in golf. I'm sure pool has its stories too.

A non-golfer as myself will learn a lot from reading this novel.

Does this type of cunning play really happen? I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

You got me hooked, Jim.

Question- the middle photo. He was in Animal House and I can't place his name. Correct?

Thanks.
John

Correct. His name is Peter Riegert. Kenny on the left is the old actor Tab Hunter. Abby is a Ukrainian model named Daria Sidorchuk.

In Some Call It Luck, E.J. was Dustin Hoffman in his role as Ratso Rizzo in "Midnight Cowboy."

Yes, there has been a lot of hustling in golf over the years. It's often of the sandbagging nature of Fairbanks and Wellborn, but there have been some clever hustles as well. I'm so glad you're enjoying this as a non-golfer, John.

Well done with this extract from a tale in which the good guys, with some cunning and an original plot, are going to give the bad guys their comeuppances and make a handy profit as well (I hope - I,m anticipating here). Good writing and believable dialogue.

The picture included caught my eye, especially the center one. Who was this person, and was he a Tiger grad, being "Princeton," where I wanted to go and play b-ball for Pete Carrill. It would have been less than an hour from home.

Not sure why he's wearing that particular sweater because he went to the fictional Faber College in the movie Animal House. That's Peter Riegert who played Boon. That picture was from the movie.
