Good luck in the contest. Funny story and it proves the point: you gotta believe to get results. At least, I think having faith in whatever is your talisman is the point. Regardless, I enjoyed the story, especially liked the juxtaposition of the narrator's skepticism with the willingness to give the dragon another try after it appears and demands its due.

This is a fascinating story that I can easily relate to. There was a beautiful obsidian and gold beaded bracelet advertised on the internet for $20. Various people (paid actors) said they wore the bracelet and good things happened to them. I commented to my daughter, a jewelry designer, that the beads were beautiful. She said she could get the bracelets from China for two dollars each. In three weeks I had two bracelets that I wore for around 3 months. Nothing happened. They are in a drawer. Hahaha!

That's quite the story! I loved the interchange with the friend and the mental eye roll. But then one must be careful with such things apparently, as nightmares come with a subconscious guilt for throwing away precious dragon. Best wishes in the contest!

This is a well written piece of fiction. It seem there is some magic with the dragon the fortune teller sold. It might not bring the right kind of luck, but it doesn't intend to end up in the trash. Better enjoy the art work and try to keep the dragon apeased. It don't sound as though she has a cholce. This is great entry for the contest.
