Well done; you build the story with strong images, details, and suspense.
A cat in the shadows was preparing to hunt down a mouse.
Brilliant and well-written.
Best regards,
Mary

Yes, sir, you've certainly given us a glimpse into the night that reoccurs with a rampant regularity. Hunter and prey, one chasing, the other speeding away if it can. Thanks for sharing.

Bill, your story is compact and says so much. You have a great command of the English language, as you paint a great picture of the feline in your story.
Good luck with your book. Blessings. Cindy

This is a very nice story told in the language of poetry. Your words create scene that would make anyone stop and take notice. I usually skip poems that aren't promoted, but I love the way you've worded this one.

A good short, short story written with the finesse of a well-seasoned pen. This story ends with a feral feline with an appetite preparing to
pounce on a mouse meal. A
creative read.

I realize that God had a purpose for creating mice and rats, but I swear the only use I can see for them is providing a food source for cats and owls. I can say that I truly hate them.

What about Mickey, Mighty, and Jerry?
-
As cartoons is the only place I am okay with them. The ones running around in my home chewing up things and spreading disease is a no no.

A slow moving silent chaotic ghostly scene in the pink mist here and you conjured up quite a picture with your eerie magical words Bill, a storm in the tea leaves, love Dolly x

Wow! This should have been in the prose contest. You take a simple scene like a cat chasing a mouse on a playground and give it a surreal feeling with your use of metaphor and alliteration.

Thank you, Helen. Contests are usually more demoralizing than anything else. If one pops up that aligns with what I'm about to do I might enter. Otherwise, people have packs of five that support them on voting, it seems.
-
Hmm. Is that called a "Super Pack" ?
-
There may not be such a group, but I find it odd sometimes when someone enters a contest at the last minute and gets eight votes at the same time. Check their site, and the work has received only two reviews.
