This is very well written, and I like the way you have stayed neutral throughout your poem, though once voted in-which is what the voters wanted?? we must do our best, and I like that you mention not asking for mundane/selfish tasks, very well done, and best wishes for your contest****kahpot

This will written poem is like a heart cry from an older person to God to come and intervene in the things that are going wrong in our country today. There are many things that I see that are breaking my heart as well. Sir, I would say, keep writing ,keep loving the Lord, and know that the Lord will return soon. Patricia.

Thanks, Patricia. As God looks down on us, He must be shaking His head.

Hi Paul,
This is a prayer is a good poetic version of what many have asked for in the U. S. and anywhere there is corruption in government. Though I don't know if we need the second coming to come early. We just need heavenly intervention to get politicians to be mor honest and compromising.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

With respect Paul, politicians are representative of the people, they aren't exclusive, and they are, in your words, mostly subject to bribery and therefore, corruption, then so are most of the people also, if that's the case, the nation is going to hell in a basket, but personally I don't think that's the case, I'm not a supporter of any political party, because I'm not privy to who is crooked and who is not, I don't think most politicians do it to make Money or have power, but to make a difference, politics is a hard gig, I would leave the judgement to God, and just pray for them, after all He knows who's crooked and who isn't. Great poem though, blessings Roy

This poem has a nice, steady flow to it. The rhyme scheme is steady. It clearly comes from the heart. It certainly fits the theme of the contest you entered.

I always look forward to your posts, Paul. Your work has a vintage feel, and I mean that in a good way! It's straightforward and easily read. I wish you much success with this contest, my friend.

The words you used made this poem flow very well. I especially like your message. You are right about politicians being greedy and self-serving and tearing our country apart. I do not see any need for improvement. Have a blessed day.

Thank you for sharing this letter to God contest entry with us. Yes, we are in a mess as a country. Both the Republicans and the Democrats are crooked. I keep praying that enough Christians will come forward and begin praying that our country gets back on track. Good luck with the contest.

Thanks, Barb. The Christians need to get more involved in politics. It would be tough sledding in the beginning.

It's not only your country, Paul, it's the same in ours too. In fact I can't think of any country that has politicians up to the job properly, for the people, not themselves. Your poem was brilliantly written, the rhyme spot on, and the rhythm impeccable. It pushed your message home in such an engaging way, one can't help but enjoy it. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Thanks, Sandra. It's amazing how many politicians become rich, once they are in office.

This makes a number of very valid points about modern problems in US and in many other places; The level of morality in public life is declining among all political parties. The careful control of rhyme and metre here helps to make the point very well:
