I enjoyed reading your prayer for the "Dear God" contest Paul. Your message is very clear and I agree we are in big trouble and need His help. Our politicians sadly seem to be looking out for themselves rather than the people who elected them.
The only answer as I see it is for people to repent and turn to Him otherwise, you are right, He needs to send His Son back soon.

Good prayer Paul.
Blessings
Janet

Thanks, Janet. We could help ourselves if would vote these greedy politicians out of office.

Nicely done. Good work.
I like the rhythm and energy.
I'll bet you got a lot of doctrine fed back to you.

I think that sometimes it is nearly impossible for most people to refrain from criticizing content, when they should limit themselves to the mechanics.
So I'll keep my little comment to myself, as difficult as that is!
Best wishes.

Wonderful poem for the Dear God contest.

I think prayer works, although sometimes doesn't seem that way.

I love the imagery and presentation.

Goodluck in the contest.

Thanks, Gypsy. I think prayers help, also, but sometimes we don't see the big picture.

This is a well written poem, a common thought of many around the world. If I may add my personal thoughts not directly related to critiquing the poem but just to say that many marathon runners and sprinters achieve success when they reach the finish line, but if they give up running just before they cross that line it wouldn't really make sense to blame anyone else for not achieving success. In a similar way this world has not been promised to be heaven, but rather the test/exam before the results are handed out. The results and awards are promised by God in the next life though ofcourse some can also be given in this life. Also if free will had been given to all to choose for themselves how they wish to act in this world then also it wouldn't quite make sense for God to suddenly take over. What He has promised is that with enough physical effort and prayers he can accept and change some circumstances for people but in other situations the thing you are praying for may not be given because it is related to giving to other people who aren't praying and deserve it and their time for facing justice for their actions will come soon enough or it affects a greater outcome that is connected to a large number of people and complicated and deeper situations and circumstances. There's lots we can't see and understand but prayers are never wasted, they keep adding up in your favour and the reward of the next life is far greater than any reward that can be given in this life. I feel like you are a person who believes in God so I hope that you will take away a positive message from your own writing as well as what I've written here that God is always watching and listening and is waiting for the perfect timing and His timing is always perfect whereas we are imperfect and impatient human beings. Also, if you would like to discuss the 2nd coming of Prophet Jesus, I also have an answer for you for that. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks for your poem once again.

Thanks for the review, Sumaira. God's gift of free will was for His entertainment.

This Dear God poem is one that we hope he listens to sooner rather than later.

Written in a style I found easy and joyful to read having good flow and cadence.

Best of luck in the contest.
John

Oh, this is a wonderful poem, but I am afraid it might not qualify for the contest because the instructions call for a story.

Having said that, though, let me add my comment on your poem -- I enjoyed all of it (and the corruption is here, in Canada, too). My favorite stanza is that last one!!!!

Thanks, Teri. I probably should have used "Big" instead of "Little" in the title.

A winner, I hope. I like that you used poetry instead of a letters. The references to corruption is politics is something readers will recognize. The speaker's tone is humble which would please the Lord. A great last stanza.

Indeed, gof is everywhere and always present. He is our true love and i understand his ways although sometimes he has an interestering sense of humor.
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks, Rebekka. If God did not have a sense of humor, he would need counseling.

Your contest entry was well thought out, Paul.
I enjoyed reading it and agreed with everything
you mentioned. Yes, we are in dire straits, and it's
getting worse. I liked the rhyme scheme and the smooth
flow and organization in your poem. The verses about
politicians were so true. None of them do what they say
they would after getting elected. They look out for themselves
and family.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes in the contest, Jan

Thanks, Jan. It will be interesting to see what happens in Chicago with a new mayor.
