This is an interesting point. Not sure how you pull these things together. My brain does not seem to pick things like that out.

I also saw this needed a fifteenth rating, so here it is.

This is a fun romp with the various definitions of pick it and its homonyms. English is confusing. I've heard it is one of the hardest to learn. Probably, because it borrows from so many other languages so the rules are confusing.
I see you took second in contest with this gem. Congratulations.

Thank you very much! I think your theory is correct. I don't know how any foreigner can learn it well with all its rules and exceptions and idioms. Yikes!

Hi Jim A well thought out poem and covered all bases
Yes funny how we can put different meaning to the same phrase
This meets repetition in all stanzas good work
Good luck in the contest
Cheers Chris

Thank you so much, Chris. I've always wondered if other languages have so many different meanings for the same word or sound.

cleverness has not been lost. Very good play on words. I am trying to think how you came about thinking of this. Did it just occur or were you deep in thought figuring out your next move?

I would say the former. I rarely just sit and try to think up ideas for poems; most of them just come to me, often through time spent with my wife. We might notice or hear something silly or strange and say, "That might make a good topic for a poem." I can't exactly remember what triggered this one, though.

A "pick it" poem that's cute to read. I hope you do well in the contest. I like your version and also the subject, "pick it" or "picket." Did you mention about the burger in the nose and if it bothers you, go blow it out or "pick it?"

You had me chuckling all through your poem. Very creative and fun to read, every word flowed into the next. Even the change from pick it to picket was done with skill. Good luck in the contest.

I love this poem. The repetition is effectively used, and you even sprinkled some puns throughout. I love puns. This poem was not a simple writing. It is well-conceived. The text is a great size. The message is clearly presented and easy to understand.
The visual is just okay. I don't get it. It could be better. Good luck in the contest.

This is a very clever poem - and insightful. It must be a nightmare trying to learn English as a second language. As well as giving some fine examples of all the different contexts and uses for "pick it" your poem rhymes smoothly and flows well. An excellent entry for the contest - sending best wishes.

I love originality and this is certainly that. To label it clever is clearly a disservice to the author. I salute your creativeness and look forward to reading more of your work

This poem was adorable and hilarious. I liked your repetition. I think you did it just right, and you highlighted some of the weird things about the English language. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

Thank you, Jessi. So glad it amused you. I don't know how a foreigner ever learns English with so many rules, exceptions, homonyms, and idioms! Yikes.
