Your job history was interesting to read, Yvonne. I look
forward to you sharing more. Your words were descriptive
and made readers feel as if they were right there with you
on the bus trips. You were a rock for the school district to
drive for them as long as you did with safety always forefront
in everything you did. I enjoyed the different adventures you
shared. The one with the birthday at the ice cream store was
funny. The one with the bully was intense. The parent who
was going to take care of everyone needed to take care of his
brat first. Through all of your adventures, you remained
professional. The tornadoes would have scared me and the
loss of brakes on the bus.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Hi Yvonne,
Good for you for making them get another bus. There should be no kids who have to stand up all the way to school, balancing themselves and their books. Whatever the school board can get away with, eh?
You must have been a darn good driver...
"The brakes went out on the bus, and all I could do was pull the gears down in "granny" gear." ... a lot of people might have panicked in a situation like that.
You would have been good as a wagon train boss back in the settler days, heading to California with umpteen covered wagons, crossing rivers, dealing with Indians and smallpox, etc. You'd keep your cool and get the job done! I know it. Instead of kids, with all kinds of temperament, you'd have foreigners from Sweden or Norway who couldn't speak English, who had no guns or food provisions. But furniture? They had loads of furniture, weighing down those wooden wheels. A lot of it was left along the way. I can just hear you telling them... "Too heavy! Throw it out!" Imagine, even pianos!

My favorite line,
"I had to look up at him, but I told him if he hit me, he'd better give his heart to God because his butt was mine."

I enjoyed your piece, Yvonne! Nicely penned!
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Kimbob

Yikes, 72 kids on a bus at once? God bless you and your patience.

I really enjoyed reading this piece and I want to know about the second incident. Good way to keep us hanging and needing to come back!

Cheers to the valued school bus drivers! Our communities need you.

You totally rock, dear Yvonne. I can't imagine you doing this and how you had your baby on board. Applause!!
You're such an inspiration, with a sassy, can-do spirit. A delightful, encouraging story.

Everything you write is a six in my opinion, but for those of us who read so many, they just don't give us enough stars to go around. But luckily today, having managed to have one left, I'm able to reward you properly. Thanks for sharing.

I know I couldn't drive a bus. For one, I can hardly handle my suburban. The other, my eyes would be on the rearview mirror more than on the road. I also have a potty mouth when I'm nervous or frustrated. But I do like kids. Especially middle school and up. They are challenging and just starting to get a real personality. This was a fun read. Can't wait to hear about that 2nd incident. Gretchen

Wow! You were one gutsy lady for someone so small. I can't imagine driving a bus with that many kids on it. I thought about thirty-four was a bus load. Even on tour busses, I didn't think there were more than that. I love your stories and they are certainly not boring. Aren't you from Arkansas? I remember being on a bus with some young people going to a camp in Arkansas and bus couldn't make the steep sharply curved roads. We had get out and walk up so the bus didn't have so much weight.

These certainly were not boring. I found them most amusing. I loved the way you told off the guy who appeared to be about to give you a good thrashing with his belt. Let's have a few more of your supercabby tales.

I like what you told the 6'2"senior -to give his heart to God because his butt was mine- you were a gutsy little gal, Yvonne. I enjoyed reading this about just some of your busdriver adventures.Looking forward to reading more. Just one edit suggestion
We made (it) to our destination
