This is very well done. I like the four lines you chose from Coleridge, and you worked them in beautifully. Your poem is filled with emotion, and I can sense the fear of the person on the street. Best wishes in the contest. Carol

Hello, Yvonne,
I thoroughly enjoyed your Glosa poetic offering. It tells a complete story, and in rhyme no less!
What an incredible new presentation/interpretation/amplification of Coleridge's poem...

Thank you for sharing!
Best Wishes...

I missed this one and so many more. I'll get back into the swing of things soon.
Yvonne, you are a true poet. Reading this I was running beside that poor tormented man, trying to outrun the demon behind him. The fear he feels, the way he is sweaty, scared, running, stumbling, all words that put us into the picture. You should finish that story you asked me to look at, you have a natural talent. Don't let it go. Your poetry is just lovely, this one is scary. It's a winner in my book. Now to go and vote. Well done, my dear SATP Lots of love and hugs. Sandra xx

An interesting style and clever manipulation of word and rhyme to tell a frightening tale.
The word choice and pace of the poem drew me into the tale until at it's end I felt the despair of the victim in every word.

This is excellent. This is the second poem of this type I've read and I think I am going to enjoy this kind of poetry. It really expounds on the more familiar word of the well known poem. You have made the scene more dramatic and chilling.

An excellent poem, very vivid, and so well written that every reader will identify with his fear and distress. The poem you chose was well suited to the expansion you have done so thoughtfully. Well done! Best wishes for your entry.

Hello Yvonne,
Wow, that was a little bit scary, and I'm sitting here safe and sound at my desk! I could feel the fear creeping in with each footstep. It's like not wanting to take the covers off of your face when you're a kid for fear that the monster is right there. That reminds me of a Far Side comic. It showed a kid hidden under his blankets with a tube that went outside the blanket for breathing. I can't recall the exact caption, but it was some brand of fictitious breathing apparatus like THE MONSTER EVADER or some such thing. As always, Gary Larson ruled the funny pages. On a more serious note, well done gal! I enjoyed this. Have a blessed evening.

I love Far Side. I have most of his books. I've seen them many times and still as hard as the first time. Thanks for a great review. I'm glad you could feel the creeping fear.

I love what you did with your Glosa poem. I've read others. One was lovely but too ephemeral for me. Those Coleridge lines were great ones to quote, though I would challenge his use of a comma after "he knows." You create a really spooky atmosphere with the man feeling something evil is afoot. What do people have to walk down dark alleys, anyway? The rain adds to the atmosphere, too. You describe the man's fear extremely well. It looks like there'll be no Mannix or Barnaby Jones to come to his rescue. It must be the zombie apocalypse I've been hearing about. judi

powerful moving ghost glosa poem capturing the gothic mood of the quoted poem, and catching the overall mood of the late 19th century romantic masters.

I admire all that decided to try this form of poetry. I particularly like yours because I love a good mystery/ horror story. This is very well done, best of luck in the contest. :)
