We all have had some bullying, probably even the bullies.
This piece is well written. The images are clear. The timeline and flow are good. The language fits the situation. The presentation is good.
Thanks for a good read.

I'm so glad your grandson gave you this gift. Writing is a great way to express yourself and bring closure to events of the past.
I enjoyed your story as it gave me an insight into who you are as a person and events that have shaped your personality.

Sometimes you have to put your heart on the line to see who truly listens to you. Have a wonderful day. Jacqueline 😊🇦🇺

Well done- I can relate to your story but for different reasons.
Bullying is never pleasant and I believe does leave scars on the psyche.
Thanks for sharing a facet of your life which you truly would rather forget.
Someone else may get benefit from your strength of character and persistence.
It does take courage to recall, reveal and let go of past traumas.
Blessings

Thank you. I've learned they back down when confronted because bullies are cowards at heart.

Icould relate to that little girl, not because I was tiny but because I was so very shy. Though this was a story about bullies I found many chuckles. Particularly loved your husband's line "Don't start anything I can't finish ". Good things come in small packages, Yvonne, you've proved that's true. I hope you're enjoying your new memory writes, I've been enjoying reading them. Cheers

I'm so happy you enjoyed reading this. Bullies always find your weakest point. I found when you stand up to them, they back down because they're cowards at heart.

Hi Yvonne,
Yes, I always read Helen's "interviews". They help us get to know a fellow Fanstorian. I'm glad you'll be soon making your debut.
When I was a kid, I got teased about my ears. They really aren't that big, but kids are cruel. They relish in teasing. It was only during my elementary years. Then I didn't get teased in High School or university. But when I started working at Moosehead Breweries in 1972, it started again. You have to let it roll off your back, or they'll keep it up.
I enjoyed your story. It must have been very difficult for you in those early grades, too. "Life is hard, yard by yard. Inch by inch, it's a cinch!" Someone said that.
Nicely penned!

Hello Yvonne,
Thanks so much for sharing your story. I absolutely hate bullying in any of it's many forms. It's become a way to control other people in society now, by censoring different views or calling people who disagree with you derogatory names or even removing you from social media. It's interesting that as some have moved in to adulthood, the bullying has continued. I'm sorry that you had to endure such behavior as a child. When we were growing up, I don't think bullying was taken quite so seriously, although to the kid who was bullied, it was very serious. I saw recently in the news another account of a little girl who was bullied in school and then threatened more after the event was posted on social media. She committed suicide. Kids learn behavior at home. If they learn to stand up for the weak or timid at home, they won't be the ones participating in the bullying. I think you were cute as a button gal. Thanks for standing up to bullies- that makes you a hero in my eyes.
Have a blessed day.

It is amazing how we are all the same with some of the same experiences, but we are different. Your stories will have something for everyone. This story reminded me of a horrible experience I had in elementary school, where a bully picked on me simply because I was timid. She was older than me and I was terrorized. I agree with Helen. Tell your stories. They may be liberating for someone.

I never had a lot of bullying in the school, but I did experience that kind of thing in my home as my brothers would teach me to distraction. My mother emotionally abused me with her speech. She called me names in unusual ways and it made me feel really bad about myself. And I doubt that I would never do that to my children.Patricia

Wow.
You've gone through a lifetime facing bully's in many a different way but as years have gone on, it appears to have made you stronger.
Well written, and I look forward to future posts.

This is interesting. The bullying must have been hard in high school. So many kids feel like they're different for one reason or another. I like that you give specific examples of how you were bullied and of standing up to bullies. I especially liked how you wanted to attack the large man trying to get the smaller one's paycheck with your handbag. It was good you had that teacher who stood up for you in elementary school. judi
