Oh that takes me back a few years, John. So many times at breakfast there would be that last minute scramble to get their school things ready. What is it with kids? This is a great contest entry, my friend, and I wish you the best of luck! :)) Sandra xx

You did a good job of telling your story and 50 words. It is not easy to tell a story and 50 words or less but you have achieved it very well. Have a great day. I wish you the best in the contest and good luck with your writing. Patricia.

Thank you, Pat for reading and your fine comments.
I actually placed 2nd in the contest.
This post is an extremely shortened version of the first chapter of a baseball book I?m writing (no posts yet).
    I appreciate your stopping by.

In just 50 words you've recounted the story of many a household with young kids in sports. Great job:-)

The only thing I would suggest is that you give dad a name just as you did Rebecca. Just for consistency.

What a fun contest entry, John. I enjoyed reading
it. The dialogue was fantastic and so realistic sounding.
I could visualize everything as I read. You packed a lot
of info and action into your few words as allowed by rules.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Thank you, Jan. This is a very, very short first chapter synopsis of a baseball book I?m working on.
    Thank you for reading this.

A good entry to the contest. Anyone who has kids can relate to this. Relatable use of the baseball equipment. Hope they find everything. Wait, where's the bat?

This fifty-word story, Baseball Socks and Cleats, has the required word count and follows young Sherlock Holmes through the preparation for ball practice.

I think I just had a flashback. I had kids in sports. Not sure how many times I had to run a forgotten pair of basketball shoes to the school five minutes before the game started. This was such a cleverly written piece. I like that it was mainly done with dialogue. Great job. Gretchen

Lol! Well, the good thing is that Sam is responsible to get up, get dressed, and look for his baseball attire, even if he doesn't know where they are kept. Ah, those were the days! Best wishes in the contest!

Yes, but my kid would have been having her toothbrush talking to the cup and completely obliviously to the time...😊

Hehehe. Kids, all parents deal with this cross investigation... specially teens.

The story grabbed my interest. The dialogue is believable. And the characters seem real. I would you recommend it.
