I really had to troll to find something I had not read. This was hysterical to read. Men as a rule behave like this far more than women. Women as a rule are far more logical about behavior. Good writing sweetie pie :-)

Thank you. I always wondered why the two couldn't get along. It was ridiculous. I got along with his wife great.

Wow, that's quite a bad neighbor story. Fortunately,
no blood was shed. We have two neighbor households
behind us who stir up trouble.
It all started about five years
ago when my family members put up a fence to
keep children and dogs in the
family from wandering off.
These idiot neighbors took it
personally that the fence was
put up, when it didn't have
anything to do with them.
There's been no violence, but
they're spiteful. We want to
move, but can't right now.
Anyway, great writing on a
very trying subject. Have a
blessed Sunday.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. I appreciate you sharing your neighbor story with me too. The world would be a better place if we could gat along with one another.

Wow, this was quite a story, it grabbed me from line one. A great descriptive imagery and attention to the detail.

I enjoyed your farm adventures, being raised in the country myself. These were quite the feuds between Bob and your husband Desi about the wandering cows and missing cows, the poisoning and the barbed wire (smile). Glad you didn't suffer much damage in the litigation, and that it all got resolved in the end.

I really enjoyed it, best of luck in the contest.

Thank you. Dorothy and I found the whole thing amusing until it went
too far. It was a very long time ago, back in the late eighties or early nineties.

Oh my goodness this is quite a story and I am glad to hear it ended reasonably amicably. I used to work with a guy in an office who had a farm. One day he didn't turn up for work and we heard he had been arrested. Evidently on his farm he rented out some of the land to another farmer. After a couple of years he would not renew the rental and wanted to use the land for himself. The neighbour was very angry and drove his tractor over the front garden ruining all the flowers and herbs my co-worker had planted. To take revenge he took a shot gun and shot dead the farmer and his son who was helping him. It was on the National news as we don't carry guns over here and it was a huge story. I never saw my friend again as he went to prison for a long time. This is how arguments between neighbours can escalate into murder! A tragic tale I must tell one day. Thank you for sharing your story here, this is a fascinating read, love Dolly x

Thank you, and thanks for sharing that interesting story. It's hard to imagine a feud ending like the one you told me about. I do think that Bob was capable of violence if his wife hadn't stepped in and put a stop to his foolishness.

I like how you tell a story. Enough dialigue and well balanced with play by play. Bob did sound like an ass. Even though you and his wife were friends, it still had to put a strain on your relationship with her. Great writing. I really enjoyed reading about the cow war. Gretchen

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. When I write a story, I imagine myself talking to another person, and tell the story in that manner.

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. Yes, Bob is certainly not a good neighbor. I have known a few of them myself. This very well written and good luck with the contest.

Dorothy called me the next day and apologized for Bob's behavior. (me the following day)

Thank you, and thanks for the tip. I do have a bad habit of saying the next day instead of the following day. It's a good thing you are here to remind me every time I make that blunder. Thanks again.

This story is so perfectly written with details explained fully and clearly. Every word builds the story and identifies why various actions were taken. The story is suspenseful and at time humorous as cows make their moves. Bob was surly a neighbor from hell. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. Bob was indeed the neighbor from hell. Desi didn't help any, but I think he would have let it go if Bob had quit doing stupid things.

Although I'm sorry to hear about all of the trouble and the inspiration for this story, I must say it was enjoyable to read.

It was obvious (not in a bad way) non-fiction. Like my version of the saying goes, "You can't write $@#& like this. Nobody would believe it."

Thank you. This happened a long time ago, in the early nineties. Those two guys were like a pair of tomcats hissing at one another.

Your post certainly depicts a bad neighbor. Your story builds with increasing hatred and bad-blood between the two men, escalating to a dangerous feud that could have become physical. When it got to criminal activity of stealing livestock, I'm glad to see cooler heads prevailed.

Thank you. There were some other incidents not realated to cows. For instance, we had land on the south side of Bob's farm too. The south side of the lake extended onto to land a little. Bob tried to tell us we couldn't fish on the lake because it was private. It took a court battle for that incident, but we won because we did have access. It was interesting.

Having a neighbor from hell was really hell! If his wife only Luther foot down sooner and stood up to him it could have a saved a lot of harassment!just saying his tidy whites would have been threatened a longtime ago when it first happened.

Thank you. Yeah, Dorothy knew that, but we kept hoping Bob would turn into a human being. It never happened.
