The author's words are engaging, meaningful, descriptive and engaging.
This poem resonated with me. I feel the author's words have a clear
message. Examine one's heart as the author's states in this poem is, I feel,
is filled with wisdom. The poem flows and connects well. The artwork is
perfect and compliments both the theme and words of this poem.

Maria, I thank you so very much for always having nice things to say and being so thoughtful in your reviews. Your kind words are always so appreciated. The story I shared did happen to my friend, when another worker was jealous, because Lee was climbing the ladder faster than her.
It was a small innocent mistake, but got blown up because of this other woman. My friend was so distraught, that she quit and laid around and became depressed. She just couldn't handle the rejection and being lied about. However, the woman had told someone who later reported her and she was fired and Lee was hired back with a promotion, and was able to become her old self again. So I have no place in my life for rude and disrespectful either. I figure if we treat others how we want to be treated, it is our right to expect that. Thank you for always being one of the sweetest people that I know and always respectful even if there is feedback offered.
    That way is absolutely priceless!

One of the many flaws of humans is that they see themselves not having something someone else has and become frustrated with their situations and begin trying to tear down another's happiness. Be it through lies, or their own inadequacy to fulfill their own dreams, they often want to blame others for what they have not or cannot achieve. Until they become happy with their own situation, they will never be free of jealousy.

Hello author, this poem is well written, and your message is clear.

Of special note;
Instead of wanting what is hers, share part of yourself too.

(author, this is so true, but sometimes it's worse than wanting what is hers, it's wanting to control and isolate her--chasing all other friends away. I've had this situation a few times in my life. Also, sometimes what the woman wants is the other woman's entire life--her spouse and her house. To those women, I say, "work for it, earn it, and find your own man.)

A thought provoking poem. Jealousy can be a wrecker and a killer.
Well done. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Thank you Margaret. I really appreciate all of your kind comments regarding my jealousy poem. There are so many different colors of jealousy. It isn't just green. It's dark and black, and it's fraud color of yellow is supposed to be for the sunshine it tries to fool you with, but it's really calf poop gold. Jealousy has no pretty colors, just drab and ugly, like the monster that wears them.
Watch out for your man my friend, as you just can't be sure who might be want to be his next cook. Lol. Thanks for all the lovely words for my poem, my friend.

This is a wonderful entry for the jealousy prompt, mystery poet. Unfortunately, I have felt it here on Storyland. It's noticeable lately, and I guess when other writer's feel threatened or even envious/jealous of another's gift, we/us/you/me strike out. No one is exempt from these feelings it's what we do with them that defines us. I've been surrounded by the beautiful, smart, and talented all my life. FanStory has been no exception.

I've had people strike at me and I'm sure you have too. Unfortunately, I have had many leave this site because of it. Fortunately, I have talked many out of leaving.

We need to all take your poem in and learn. Thank you for shooting straight!

My very best in the vote too!
Your friend,
Sally Law :)) XOs

A very positive poem to offer an alternative to consuming jealousy, and to promote kindness and compassion. Well written and with smooth rhymes. Best wishes for your entry.

Hi Wendy, I thank you so much for your kind comments and your nice review for this poem. We should all be thankful for what God has given us and not be jealous of what somebody else has or what they're doing. Thank you again, my dear friend!

This was a cool poem. I liked that you slipped an example in of the repercussions of jealousy. I like that you showed it's not just an emotion that stays in your heart. It changes people. How they view things and react to things. Putting on glasses with green lenses alters the view. Great job. Good luck.in the contest. Gretchen

Thanks so very much Gretchen! I appreciate all of your kind comments.
My friend Lee, quit her job and was not doing well with the rejection. I was worried about her and then one day, they called her and told her that somebody had reported knowing the truth, and they begged her to come back with a promotion. She also received lots of apologies from the people, and the woman who spread lies because of the jealousy was fired. You know what they say about Karma! Lol. I was happy that so many you felt it was ok to add the story. I appreciate that very much! Thanks again my dear friend.

The poem certainly fits the contest theme. The picture accompanying the poem fits well. The rhyme and meter are consistent. I would have liked some more specifics about poor Lee, but you gave me enough to care about her plight. Best wishes in your contest.

You are so very kind Minty! Thank you for your lovely review and comments. My friend, Lee was truly hurt after this episode. She was so good to everyone, but she couldn't handle the rejection and quit that job. Yet God was watching over her and after sitting home, ready to give up believing that kindness wasn't the answer, she did start to realize that it wasn't right to think everyone would treat her so cruelly and got her confidence back. She., was begged to go back to her job when someone reported knowing the truth. The jealous one was fired and Lee was offered a promotion to come back. And lots of apologies. You know what they say about Karma! Lol. Thanks again!

Nice poem entry for the One Word: Jealousy writing prompt contest.

The rhymes and meter didn't seem forced. My mind wandered at times.

the structure makes sense, it draws on emotions and it presents strong images.

This wise advice and I wish kids had classes in how to deal with emotions like jealousy and how to not hurt an envied person but to learn more about the background. It's so important to go beyond our feelings and care about others. Well said. Best wishes in the contest!

Thanks Helen. However, I wish I had gotten to my computer before you reviewed this. A couple grandkids popped in to spend time with me today, and I could not fix any of my meter problems that I always notice after I post. So I had just gotten back from fixing and I wish you had seen it now. Anyway thank you for your lovely review. I do truly appreciate it my dear.

I enjoyed the sentiment here for the contest as jealousy is one of those emotions that none of us are proud of and we should think twice before taking revenge on someone who is innocent and unaware of the situation. An uneven metre in places which could easily be rectified, love Dolly x

Hi Dolly, you reviewed just a minute early. I just got back from fixing a few things, that maybe they look better now. My grandkids were here and nothing would work in my head but I think it looks better. Lol, as I was saving, I said to myself, at least I finished before Dolly saw it. I mean that with high regards

I took another look at your poem for you as you say you have updated it. Assuming you want iambic metre, the first stanza is out of metre, also lines 5, 7, the whole of stanza three, and the last two lines, the majority of your poem is not in metre. The stresses are in the wrong places. It could be that you are not intending to write your work in metre and I apologise if this is the case. Best regards, Dolly x
