Jealousy is such a cruel little creature isn't it? Burrowing it's way under our skin and making us act unkindly to people we care about. Absolutely lovely poem!

Newilk, I thank you so much for your kind comments and your nice review for this poem. I agree. We should all be thankful for what God has given us and not be jealous of what somebody else has or what they're doing. Thank you again, my dear friend!

As usual, you've written a very insightful poem that unfortunately captures some of the ugliness of our human nature; but your poem is literarily lovely! CONGRATULATIONS on your well-deserved 1st place win!

Jealousy is truly an inexplicable evil that hunts the life of the conveyer. Your poem is well penned and the advice in the last verse creatively passed. Well done, Debi

Congratulations on winning this contest. Your poem is very well written and portrays clearly how jealousy can destroy a life. It is something that we all must guard our hearts against.

Thank you and for the wonderful review and lovely words for this poem. And thank you for the congratulations, I really appreciate that. I too, would hate if my life is that miserable that I had to be jealous of somebody else's. After all, we should all be thankful for what God gave us. Thank you again my dear friend.

This is an excellent poem. Jealousy is often found in the work place. When I was still working it seemed most of the young women I worked with were very catty and out to get all the rest in trouble. Sometimes the boss make it worst by showing preference of some over the others. Now that I'm older, I don't find that as much among older women. Your poem expresses the danger of jealousy so well in rhyme and flow.

Beth, that story about my friend Lee, was a true story. She was so kind to everyone, but was moving up the ladder at a higher rate. One day in her job she made a very innocent mistake, but was blown out of proportion by a jealous woman who had been bad mouthing her anyway. But this time she got others believe that she did it on purpose for I can't remember why it was an issue. Anyway, finally Lee quit her job, as she couldn't handle the rejection and couldn't believe anyone would do that to her. She lost her sparkle and didn't laugh anymore, she was known for her positive attitude and she lost it all. Then one day the company called, and said they had fired the other woman, that another employee had learned the truth and reported it. Lee was offered a promotion and a raise to come back. But it did take a while for her to trust and get back to herself. She is back now and better than ever. And thank you for sharing your story with me as well.
I thank you so very much for always having nice things to say and being so thoughtful in your reviews. Your kind words are always so appreciated.

great and moving poem about jealousy and all that word entails. Like the ending stanza

The person who you envy, just may have it worse than you
Be careful with the message that you send
Instead of wanting what is hers, share part of yourself too
Don't ever miss the chance to be a friend!

Jealousy can be very cruel in many ways. I like your poem because you are saying that friendship is a good way to solve the issue. Many times, people try to be a friend but can you trust them?

Rosemary, you are always so sweet. I think that some of us, just kind of know who we can and can't trust. I sometimes find that the people who are the toughest to break through with, can make the best friends. And others are just naturally kind and sweet like you. Midwest Nice. Right??

I don't remember the exact quote, but it's something like "jealousy is as cruel as the grave." You captured that here. I like your ending message about friendship.
Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.

That almost sounds as if this is a true story in a poem. Jealousy destroys so many people, and for what? Does that make the jealous person happy? I doubt it. This is a really good poem with an excellent example of what jealousy can do. Well done, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Sandra, I thank you so very much for always having nice things to say and being so thoughtful in your reviews. Your kind words are always so appreciated. The story I shared did happen to my friend, when another worker was jealous, because Lee was climbing the ladder faster than her.
It was a small innocent mistake, but got blown up because of this other woman. My friend was so distraught, that she quit and laid around and became depressed. She just couldn't handle the rejection and being lied about. However, the woman had told someone who later reported her and she was fired and Lee was hired back with a promotion, and was able to become her old self again. So I have no place in my life for rude and disrespectful either. I figure if we treat others how we want to be treated, it is our right to expect that. Thank you for always being one of the sweetest people that I know and always respectful even if there is feedback offered.
    That way is absolutely priceless!
