I love this story. I love how the chickens are coming home to roost. The curtains are beginning to close of Pat Rogers and his means of escape are starting to disappear. Too bad. When a rabid dog displays the fact that he is rabid, he is usually taken down. That is the prescribed method of dealing with such.

It's always nice to see the bad guys get what they have coming to them, but in this case we're going to have to sit back and waiting a long time. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Barb, I have learned much from your work. You have a way of capturing an audience and sliding them into a welcoming and readiness for the next paragraph. A rare treat.

The question is....why did she hold Cord's hand and then quickly take her hand away? I do wonder what is on her mind. I am sure the ending is a miraculous ending.

True to form, Alex screws done Rogers in the courtroom with meticulous professional steps. There is no room for him to breath. The judge is decidedly on her side. Once again, as always, the dialogue is crisp and taught with tension. We can see Alex and Rogers shooting daggers at each other between lines. Cord is on the sidelines here. I didn't detect any spam, there's nice polish on it. estory

That was quick and straight forward. The thought that popped into my mind was that the judge could be biased because of what appeared to be a friendship between Cord and the judge in the last chapter. You did a great job, and I enjoyed reading it as always. Have a wonderful afternoon. Shirley

I think in a small town there is bias. We live two houses down from our judge. Thank you for the kind review.

Hi, Barbara, I just don't have a six left this time of the week. I'm so sorry. I really enjoyed reading this. I'm surprised having a baby cost that much.
Of course here in Europe all healthcare is free. I really liked the court scene. All best, Ulla:)))

Pat will do all the maneuvering he can to get out of his situation. He continues to deny, even though the facts contradict him. I didn't realize the cost of prenatal care and delivery was that high. Really expensive. I understand Lisa not having insurance, though. Great courtroom presentation. Ali thinks of everything on behalf of her clients. Pat will face the hard reality of having to pay those women. He'll hardly have any walking around money left. Great chapter. judi

Thank you for the kind review. I researched the cost of childbirth in Texas. It's probably higher in other parts of the country.

OH, I haven't a six again!! I was disappointed the chapter wasn't longer, but I'm sure there was a reason. I really thought Ali did an amazing job in the courtroom, and has Pat nicely tied up tight so he doesn't have any wiggle room to get out of it. Lol. This is a great chapter, Barbara, and I can't wait to find out what is on Ali's mind that has Cord worried. Well done, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Chapters moving along nicely. With only two more to go, I'm curious about what's bothering Alexandra (I have my suspicions) and how it'll be handled in the novel.
Good, believable courtroom action. The judge does not like Rogers and lets him be aware of it.

Nicely done.
