Your poem says to me that you grew up in the 60s and 70s. That is when I was raising my daughters who are now almost all going to be 60 years are better. My oldest daughter is 62 a second daughter will be 60 in June I'm at 3rd daughter, will be 59 in September. Patricia.

Did you know that Donna Summers could flat out sing a note for eternity. Barbara Streisand held a note for a long time but Donna took the cake on this talent. Her voice certainly isn`t what it use to be but college days were filled `last chance for romance` Fun stuff. Thanks for sharing.

I am a big fan of the songs you listed. It is true, songs that make us want to dance are the best. I like how you give a history in your words of how we listen to music over the years, records, cassettes to Alexa and Ytube. We do manage to listen to music somehow with different devices. I enjoyed reading your poem, it is unique and fun to read.

I am so happy that someone else liked them as much as I do. Those and more were on the YouTube video with my poem. I couldn't believe they put so many on one. Sometime if you have a couple free hours, just click on that one and you will not be sorry. .... thanks again sweet friend!

Loved how you took us from your mother's lullaby song to the growth into womanhood and enjoying dancing to the music! Thanks for sharing about all the ways to reach music sources! Best wishes in the contest!

I loved your poem and enjoyed your music choices.
I've written one, too, for this contest, but don't know how to put music in, so it won't do well. Anyway, yours is really good and I wish you luck!
I hate to leave the music :)

Hi Katharine, I would love to help you do that. It is super easy. It is only two steps, so please let me know and I will write them down for you. And even stay next to my messages in case you have any questions. I truly appreciated your very kind comments, and altho, I really would have loved to do it more about the music, but some of the others were almost exactly the same as what I loved. I think many of us are around the same age and liked the same thing. I loved the disco era and loved dancing, so I did add one more stanza to my poem and told about my love for the dance songs.
So let me know and I would be happy to guide you with a video. Ok?

you are so kind. I have a doctor's appointment today and then have to take a friend to her doc''s appt, so I'll just have to let my piece be as it is. So please don't wait for me. That is so kind of you. Maybe another time I'll see if you have time to show me. Thank you very much!!
And I guess I'll have to wait to see who you are until later, too. :)

-Impressive artwork and very nice presentation.
-You did a good job with the poem.
-Effective imagery and rhyme, as well as
going through the stages of music in your life.
-I like how you begin with your mother and hearing her voice.
-A lot of us on the site can relate to having the radio as
the way we heard music and the 8 track tapes.
-Thanks for sharing about playing the drums in the band;
I played the clarinet in my high school band.
-A very good conclusion to your poem.
-A good entry; good luck!!

My daughter played clarinet, son was saxophone and youngest daughter did drums like her mom. Then none of my grandkids played instruments. I think my kids were trying to tell us something. Lol!

great little poem on the sound track of your life starting with your Mom's singing, then to the radio, concerts, TV, MTV, internet and now Apple Siri and Google Alexis.

Excellent entry for The Soundtrack of Your Life contest. I'm a baby boomer so perhaps we share the same taste in music. There were such iconic music in the 60s and 70s

the rhymes didn't seem forced.

the structure make sense

it draw on my emotions

it presents strong images

I Would recommend it

This was a very enjoyable, nostalgic view of music in your life from infancy to the present. It was beautifully written too with unforced rhyming and terrific iambic heptameter meter too. I also loved the presentation with your choice of photos and your color scheme. Very well done.

Great rhyming and flows smoothly. Your poem gives us a picture of how the way we listen to music has changed over the years, from a mother's lullaby to streaming that we have today.
