Although you are older than me, I believe I would be considered a contemporary. L.O.L. (I was born October 25, 1954). I really like the way you took the different ages and stages of "our" lives and illuminated the transitions of life and music. You engaged our "Hearts" in an epic voyage of soulfulness. This was an innovative treatment of the writing contest prompt. Thanks so much for sharing your rhyming poem that impacted me.

Hey Nad, I love it. We are almost twins!! Actually there is someone I found here who we do call ourselves Twins, because we were born the same day, and I will tell her about you and for now on, LOL, you will be considered like a 6 day younger Triplet. Do you know Pam Lonsdale, because she is the one. It is rare to find someone who has had so much of life?s exact path, generally speaking. Don?t be surprised if you are referred to in a poem or story in the near future.
As far as being contemporary or back in the good ole days, (ewe, wasn?t that what our parents and grandparents refered to their childhood as? haha) for me it depends upon the moment. I am a present day person, but a little jolt of Jim Reeves or Roy Orbison is a fun trip back for a bit.
I think every child should grow up thinking that there?s was the best, not because they had it so great, but inspite of.
Thanks for the awesome review, comments and six stars for this poem. I love that you saw many things at the same age as I did, such as knowing exactly where you were when President Kenedy was shot. Now everyone who was alive remembers that, but the fact that you experienced it at the same age is pretty cool. Thanks again, and are you a real doctor and if so, what kind?

I wrote a book the size of: "War and Peace" then I slipped away without putting the finishing touch, "Send" on it. I slipped over to view Pam's portfolio and when I returned it was gone.

It was a Riot for me to Read your Response to my Review of your Reflections.

I would be honored to be your little triplet brother. . . and anything that came with it.

I don't know Pam but just became a fan!
I am not a Medical Doctor. My Seminary degree is:
    Doctor of Pastoral Counseling.
No one would call me a prolific writer. My last FanStory post was 9/11/21

I am attempting to finish: "Dear God" So I can submit at midnight.

    Blessings.

I had to come back and visit you, my musical friend. I see you made some changes and improvements. A wonderful story detailing your musical history from your earliest memories. Precious!

I loved dance tunes too. I can dance to get about anything. A fun play list you've got here. Hopefully, I can dance to this without having to require medical attention!
Ha ha ha ha ha! ;)) More later!

Sending you my best today as always, and best wishes for the contest.

Thanks so much Sweet Sally. I appreciate you seeing that I had made some changes and improvements. I do love all of the dance tunes and that is why I am a big fan of Donna Sommers, (loved disco's Last Dance) Bee Gees. Michael Jackson, Abba, Flash Dance, Greece, Footloose. Dancing on the floor too. I wasn't always on the table dancing to Janice Joplin. Lol...
I think Barry Gibbs is the only one who managed the Stayin Alive. Oooh Sorry, bad joke!! I felt so bad when Andy Gibbs died so young. He was such a good singer too. Thank you again Sally for your wonderful review and comments, and of course for your generous extra helping of stars.

Such a wondrous and nostalgic write! This wonderful story took me back
to the 1960's-early 70's. No
matter what was going on in the outside world, the music of those times was a place
of refuge. Be it a joyful song,
or a love song, or a sad song,
they all still have a place in
my heart. Thank you so much
for penning this nostalgic
and heartfelt write. Your
musical experiences are
very moving. Many blessings
to you and your family.

I've really enjoy reading all these entries and learning why so many have such a love of music. And it's great to read that most are just like me, and music has influenced their lives in many ways. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

I like the original way you have decided to submit your entry. The ones I've read so far are prose and I think that poetry is most akin to music--good for you!.
Best of luck in the contest.

I love how you traced not just the evolution of music in your life, but the evolution of music in the electronics industry, from radio through records and tapes, to Alexa and Siri. I particularly liked that you included, in your personal musical journey, that it began with your mother's voice.

I enjoyed that each of your verses was unirhymed, and in a way that sounded completely organic and not forced.

I was particularly impressed with your "rhyming" of "suitable," "usable," "beautiful" and "musical." The words are just a fraction off of being actual rhymes, but you fit them in your poem so well, in terms of rhythm and meaning, that 99 out of 100 people would never even know they weren't exact.

Bee Gees were such great singers; there is only one brother left. But they have created lots of followers. The soundtrack of music brings lots of music to the ears. Like your poem.

Love your poem, and yes, I agree ~ we've been moved by melodies since before birth...and we were "rocking" before we knew what "rock and roll" was (or would ever come to be!)

I enjoyed your take on this contest. Your monorhyme stanzas are very clever and you've covered a lot of ground!

I also love your list at the end. Can't say I'd disagree with any one of them!

(I'm extra partial to the Bee-Gees "Stayin Alive" well, just because!)

Best of luck in this contest ~ although just by sharing your experiences and your songs you're already a winner!

Ms K, as I wrote in my private poem, barely have time and eyes for answering reviews, but I keep trying. Caught my granddaughter's bug and down again . But wanted you to know how much I appreciate your lovely review and you, my sweet friend!

I just loved this collection of songs, and really they're from my younger days, when days of innocence dominated my existence, and life was simple, unrefined and uncomplicated, Just loved the selection of songs, anf the great narrative, beautiful written my friend, blessings Roy

Oh thank you Roy!, in my younger days, dancing was against my religion, so I was a closet dancer. Lol! However my minister grandfather and grandmother had a tv in their closet. They later found that those old Finnish ideas actually filled many closets with many things. Mostly alcohol!
In those days I used to think, I'm going to hell no matter what I do, so why bother! So thankful to now know God's truth!
Thank you for such a kind review my sweet friend, and I love that you liked my poem and the choice of music!, Disco was awesome and Donna Sommers can sing Let's Dance like no other. I also like Abba, but nowadays it is mostly spiritual music from Jimmy Fortune (Statler Brothers) and Vince Gille. These Gospel are awesome! Thanks again my dear friend! (Hugs)

Yep, my son in law didn?t want dancing at my elder child?s wedding, I never knew the reason, I know my daughter thinks it?s OK, as do I, God dances over us.

Excellent piece of writing that I enjoyed reading, from your mother singing the lullaby to Siri and Alexa. There are so many ways music has affected our lives, and we couldn't get it all written. Good luck in the contest. Shirley
