First, I have to say your granddaughter is very talented. I am glad you are on the mend.
I do not think this was intended to gain sympathy, but to really express the fear that you felt when things went wrong the first time and now faced with the prospect of another surgery fearing a repeat or even worse.
Well done!
Best wishes,
Mary

This poem works just as well as a horror story-you are truly blessed! It does sometimes help to be able to find simple humor in such a serious situation, after the fact of course. I know this is a contest entry, but thanks so much for your courage to share such a profound and personal part of yourself. You are a true testament to faith and perseverance! Now I understand your constant positive and upbeat attitude! So glad you're still here delighting us all with your great gifts of poetry! As always, well-done!

Thanks Debi, for sharing your experience which in my view was inspirational and a tale of hope that recovery is very likely after going through pains. I love the humour you added in the poem which made the painful experience lighter. Very well done. Good luck in the contest.

Excellent poem, Debi. I'm so glad to hear you are finally on the mend after such a harrowing experience and that you've begun walking again after being off your legs for so long.

This poem was beautifully written. It was scary, but humorous at the same time--a rare feat. The rhyming and meter were great too. Very well done, and good luck in the contest.

I thank you for your help on this, and I think the few that I didn't use were fine as well. Thank you for helping me at a time that I needed it the most. Creativity and meter don't always work when running a 101 temp and you stepped up and helped me so much. I will always remember that my very dear friend. God bless you Jim!

Please don't hesitate to ask me for help in the future should the need arise. Love, Jim

This is a valuable point: "I woke up feeling strange, but glad I didn't wake up dead" Things do surface: "I try hard not to show it, but it's starting now to surface" This is something that needs prayers and healing energy.

Loved the video. Please explain exactly what is wrong with your legs? If you get stuck, I've got a spare leg I don't wear. Now, fear, the only way out is through. I have had 13 ops 9 transfusions and amputation ( just to cheer you up) over the years, 32 ops. Maybe we could start a club? "Smile tho your heart is breaking, smile tho they keep taking, when there's a storm you just smile." K xx

I knew I just loved you for more than your beautiful sense of humor! You and I who have been through a lot. You have such a great positive power through Jesus. I have had bone grafts, stem cell surgeries a couple spine, ankles, feet, legs, shoulders, and many normal internal surgeries. so my surgeons joke around they call me bionic woman says they say I have more artificial parts and I do regular parts. I have had in my lifetime a total of 52 & now I need to go in for a couple eye surgeries, an experimental stem cell replacement. But the latest one that I had was rods and other hardware attached to strengthen my bones and make it so that I can walk again. It has been 10 years in a wheel chair, and I am just thankful to be taking a few steps right now. Now they're doing bone scans to find out if it's possible that my body is rejecting the harder they put in there this last summer I am so proud to have you for a friend. I love your attitude and I just love you because you are just so much fun to be around. And if you don't mind, I'll pass on the leg but thank you for the offer. Ha ha. I think you and I have talked before about having similar problems. Didn't you say that you also had lupus that is that's causing most of my problems right now had a lot of flareups however, like you, I am choosing to be thankful for what I do have instead of what I don't have. And by the way, I love that song smile though your heart is breaking too.

It is good to hear your story, Debi. I am glad that you are on your way to a better life. I'm sure that you were in touch with The Big Guy during those trying times.

Oh Debi!!! Firstly, let me say how glad I am you made it! And thanks to the Lord for watching over you. It must have been scary, and no wonder you were nervous before the second one. Good news that you are starting to walk again! Lovely poem - and best wishes for the contest, but also for continued progress.
Wendy

This is a perfect poem for the Thoughts Before Surgery contest. It flows well and has good rhythm and fresh rhymes. I'm so glad to hear you're able to take a few steps on your own now. Continuing to pray for your complete recovery. Blessings. Carol
