Sensing Sorrow
Sorrow impacts all of our senses23 total reviews

Sorrow is an immersive experience. Like drowning. Indeed every sense is affected. Research has shown that smells trigger memories most effectively ~ hence the seemingly "warm" smell of warm rolls or peach cobbler is as likely to raise our grief as to trigger a smile.
TO glance at a photo, or hear a favorite song, to run fingers along a quilt once sewn with aging fingers, to taste that peppermint lip balm... yes, even the passing whiff of cologne, or favorite flower!
It's all triggering our hearts to recall...
One can only hope to reach a point where the astounding blessing of having our loved ones overcomes the astounding loss of losing them.
"Closure" is a falsehood.
I've never bought into it, and wouldn't want my door to those I've lost to be permanently closed.
I'm guessing you feel the same way...
My heart says thank you, Sandra.

Thank you for the exceptional rating and your comments. One of your comments I wish I had placed in my poem) to run fingers along a quilt once sewn with aging fingers. That's a beautiful line.

I hereby gift it to you, Sandra. It would be an honor to contribute in any way at all!

Thanks, but it's yours to have. Use it as a touch line in one of your upcoming poems.

Thanks, Sandra...

This is beautiful, but it makes me sad because I know it's based on real life.
However, I hope the act of writing somehow helps you deal with your pain.
Thanks so much for sharing. xxx
