Special needs children are often ignored by society, and are certainly left out of our stories. Thank you for writing a story where a father is proud of his son's reaction to the little princess. Best wishes in the contest.

Even though Max is nearly 30, kids just love him. Thanks for reading. At any age, he is still my son. Thanks.

This was a well-written entry--that was offered in two languages. It shows a level of acceptance not often seen in adults. Sometimes we can learn from children.
Best wishes.

This is a lovely story about the joy and innacence of children. We don't hear and see enough of these stories in today's world. A proud father indeed. Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest. Cheers

Thank you for sharing this. One of my grandsons is a child with special needs, and he has brought a lot of joy into our family. Usually they are so happy and trusting. This is a great entry for the contest.

such a lovely story, regarding a father and his daughter. I've been on buses, and we have to keep our ears and eyes open. Be aware of strangers. Did the girl know the man she was talking to?
This story brightens a person's day!

What a gorgeous picture you have attached to this bilingual 80 word flash fiction story. Yes, the joy of observing innocent children as they interact - such a blessing. I enjoyed reading this uplift short story. Well done and best of luck in the competition.

This was a very sweet story. I like many of the new terms we use for describing people with special needs. As a teacher, I had to correct my friends when they referred to a child as slow. We called them children who process information differently. Thank you for sharing this touching story.

Thank you. Glad you liked it. My sister taught these little wonders for nearly 40 years.

I don't know if this is true, but it is a sweet story. I think that without the negative influence of others, children would naturally be more inclusive of others. Good luck in the contest.

You are welcome.

How old was your son at the time? Or is this completely fiction? I find it curious that the son says that he is "Monsieur Max" and not simply "Max" if he was a child of a similar age. It's still wonderful that they could enjoy laughter together.

I prefer the term a special needs child... back in the day they were called retarded mostly.
I just reviewed My son Max so I know that he is a very compassionate person since he was a child.
I think altruistic people have a strong aura that others feel /sense and they are drawn to it.
I like that you offered the dialogue in French too and not just the Translation in English.
Personally , I would have made myself as small as possible , praying the child just ignored me.
Im a poor human being, i m comfortable only with animals. ( sigh)
PS: I saw a tiny typo .. princesse, the E is missing. I once got a 5 in French because I forgot an E ( sigh)
