Wise advice here and we never really appreciate what we have until it is all taken away from us. We are free to speak our mind in a democracy, freedom to come and go as we please, to make friends, to love and to give. Just breathing in fresh air should be appreciated, to be able to walk when others can't and to see and hear. There is so much to be thankful for Sandra, I loved your attitude here, love Dolly x

I've been amazed how much folk put importance on the appearance, and build a doctrine on how things appear to be, I love scripture that says "In all things I've learnt to be content," being a victim is such short circuiting past time, comparing oneself oneself with others is so pointless, it just proliferates self pity...or pride! beautifully written, blessings Roy

What a great message and it needs to be repeated daily and to every generation! Thanks for sharing this wise older sister's caring speech. I hope the middle school teacher takes it to heart.
For readability, I suggest putting a blank line between each change of speaker. Best wishes in the contest!

This is a well-written answer to the writing prompt. Sisters have their own language. The exchanges are realistic and engaging. This piece reads well. The age difference is reflected in the exchange between the sisters. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for writing.

This is a good lesson to teach children as they face the trials and tribulations of growing up in this fast-paced world. I totally agree that if you have your hand clenched you cannot feel the openness of others who love you.
This is a marvelous piece and the dialogue sounds true and believable. Thanks for showing us the life we can live if we only face the world with open hands full of love.

I know just how the "little" sister feels since I spent many of my younger years with the same attitude. Fortunately, I grew out of it and learned to appreciate the good things in my life. Great story. Good luck in the contest.

Yes, sweet Sandra with your beautiful smile, we live in a world full of the oh-so-pitiful me's. Those who sit around pouting and waiting for a handout or sympathy. Few concerned about what they can do to make others' lives better. Thanks for sharing. And I'm wishing you the healthiest and happiest New Year ever!
