With characters like Griffin, we never know what they might do, as most don't know what they are going to do themselves. Thanks for sharing another fine chapter. I know I'm not supposed to say Merry Christmas anymore, but as a simply Christian country boy, I'll always wish those I like a Very Merry Christmas!

Your writing is lovely. It has such a nice flow of dialogue that it takes the reader into the story with the characters. I can picture each scene as I read. It makes for a great story. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.

Ok, you covered a lot in this chapter. The plot is really heating up. Two things I'm wondering about: that 10-year sentence seems really light. Did you forget kidnapping is a Federal offense and now the FBI should be involved? Plus it carries a stiffer sentence.

Also, did Alex have a nightmare and that's why she woke Cord?

I simply went by the Texas statue. I guess I'd better do additional research. It was only attempted kidnapping. HMMM Thank you for the kind review.

I did a little more research and she wasn't physically kidnapped and she wasn't taken across state lines, so I am good.

"Okay Corral" should be O. K. Corral.

Should be a line space between "asked Alexandra" and "Sam nodded".

Imagine Griffin is nowhere near resolved yet. Wonder what no good he will be up to next?

I have made the corrections. I appreciate the help. You're correct, we're not finished with Griffin, yet.

I would have expected a soft cast, or a medical boot, or something for Ali's ankle.
I can't believe Ali even 'said' that she shouldn't have pressed charges. 1) the state would have anyway. 2) after her stand for the other women, Ali has demonstrated that courage is required of women everywhere, every time.
I'm pretty sure that after Alis expressed fear and premonition, Cord would have gone out and conducted a patrol.
Best wishes.

Thank you for the kind review. Cord did check out the window and saw nothing.

You think that's all he would have done? Just thinking I would have done a walk around.

This was a great chapter and I enjoyed the tension you built up. There was an error I picked up about 3 /4 though .."Rosa and Alexandra worked together to get Alexandra to.." Who else was helping Rosa? The 2 "Alexandra's" close together is confusing. Well done Barbara on another chapter!

Glad to hear you're back home! I have to wait another three weeks.

I really like how Ali has a whole community around her to protect her and stand by her side. Cord and his family and workers are great people. I hope Ali's premonition doesn't mean that Griffith is coming back.

Great chapter! I liked the action, but also Alex's conflicting emotions. I feel this is true to life, many women suffer through abuse, being ashamed to say anything to other family members, and also there is the fear that their loved ones will wreak revenge on their abuser, which in turn will foster worse abuse.
Good tension, Alex's premonition of something "really bad happening."
Good precursor for your next chapter!
Merry Christmas!

Hello, Barbara,

Wonderful chapter about Alan's arrestor continued to be a threat to Alexander and Cord and his family. Poor Ali felt very uncomfortable. I enjoyed reading your story. It moved along nicely and the plot was easy to understand and follow. Good character development.

Well done, my friend.

There's a lot of legal language in this chapter as Ali navigates the law while she presses charges for assault, and some time spent in the doctor's office getting stitched up from her attack. The dialogue is great as always, I like the little patches of humor here and there that flesh out the personalities of the characters and make them well rounded and life like. But I'm not sure you need to spend so much time on these things; I don't know if it really advances the theme or the plot. The end got really suspenseful as Ali has that premonition that something bad is going to happen. We can imagine all kinds of things in the chapter...estory

Thank you for the kind review. I bring in the little things to make it seem more natural, like real people. In my early novels, I didn't do it and people complained I rushed things, so I slowed it down. Will think about it.
