Thank you. If you had known Des, you would have expected something like his after death rant. He was strong willed to the extreme and few crossed him. I loved him despire his disposition and even changed him into a cat lover.

The words of Des, 'I'm not dead yet' rang loud and true with my father as well. I believe the folks of the 20's, 30's and 40's are so much different than the following generations. I am from the 50's and I continue to admire the resilience of those before me.

Thank you. I was raised in the fifties, too. My father was a quiet, gentle man. The polar opposite of Des. I believe Des thought he could defeat death by sheer force of will. It didn't surprise me that he was angry because he died. I'm not quite sure he believed he was dead.

You write a very believable ghost story. Mostly guys have a thing about admitting they are ill. My husband claimed he was perfectly fine when he was coughing up his toes with Covid. Fortunately, he survived. You have my sympathy at the loss of your husband, but I suspect he went on to the next life as he had hoped--quickly.

Thank you. Hey, it's not a ghost story, this happened. If you had known Des, you wouldn't have been surprised about his anger over dying. He was strong willed to the extreme.

I subscribe to the belief that ghosts are real remanents of people we knew and loved, or not.

A super story which reflects his character and determination that everything should be done in his way and in his time. You wrote it well, and i send best wishes for your entry.

Thank you. I believe Des thought he could stop death by sheer force of will. He tried. It scared me, but didn't suprise me when he came back for a last rant. He wasn't all macho, I made him into a cat lover in our years together.

Thank you for sharing your story.

The font is a little small and could maybe be bolder. On my device, it is hard to read.

Your Des sounds like a character, I am sorry for your loss.

Your writing is intelligent and real.

You've done a great job with the prompt, I enjoyed it.

Thank you. I used a size eighteen font and thought it would be plenty large. Maybe it is your device. I'm glad you enjoyed the story.

Yes, we men have a hard time admitting we're even a little sick. But we need to swallow that pride! What a wonderfully written story.

Good luck in the contest!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. I appreciate them. Yes, you guys should not be so stubborn. The doctors said if Des would have had a colonoscopy in previous years, they might have caught cancer in time to cure it.

This story was fascinating, and I wish you all the best in the contest. I like the way you write about your husband. By the way, when my grandfather died, both my mother, my aunt, and my grandmother (ladies were living in 3 separate households) experienced something strange - someone rang a bell at the hour of my grandfather's death. I think we cannot exclude the existence of something supernatural in our lives.

Thank you, and thanks for the six stars. I appreciate them. I know what I heard that night; it wasn't a dream. I never believed in the supernatural until that incident. Thanks for sharing the story about your grandfather.

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us. Des sounds a lot like my father. Mom knows Dad still communicates with her at times.

The next few days were hectic. (The following few days)

Des also had made it plain that he wanted no funeral (you can omit 'that' it's an extra word)

Thank you, and thanks for the grammar tip. I will edit and correct. It does sound nicer your way. Des was an extremely strong willed person. It sfrightened me at the time, but later I thought about things and wasn't surprised he came back angry.

Wow! What a powerful and emotional story. I do believe that our loved ones remain watching over us in someway and often leave us with signs to know that they have been there. Des yelling in that way seems to fit his character perfectly. His way of showing you he is near and still cares very much is awesome.

Hugs, Carol

Thank you. Des was yelling because he couldn't control what happened to him. He made it very plain he was angry because he died. You had to know the guy to understand.
