Well that was a nice surprise for Cooper and his mother, that his grandfather was a man with a heart! That was a lovely thing he was doing.
But it looks like Bennie has more than one problem! I'm off to read the next part now. Excellent!!!! Love this. :)) Love and hugs, my dear friend. Sandra xxxxx

Good morning, Sandra
I hope you are feeling better today and not stressing yourself over reading my story. I appreciate it but your health and well being if far more important. I hope you are appreciating the many sides of my characters in this book. I want to make them seem normal... the many facets of being human. I think!
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Poor Benny, he hasn't escaped as much as he thought. I wonder how he will find out about his father. You did a great job as always. Enjoy your afternoon. Shirley

I've been thinking where I should work his father's situation into the story, but I haven't firmed that up it. My mind travels in so many directions. LOL No wonder I never know what I am doing.

The writing is superb. Your imagination is phenomenal. The story is a thriller. I'm as amazed as Cooper to find out Frank O'Hara was not the total gangster we originally thought he was. It's believable that grateful recipients of his generosity would send money to help others. It's even understandable that he wouldn't report the money as his personal income. Great chapter. On to the next.

Oh no! I'm feeling sorry for Lance. Bennie's confiding in his father got both his father and Lance into a heap of trouble. Of course, it was Lance who had to pull Bennie into this. Now the question of the right thing to do will always hang over them. I wonder what will happen next!

My apologies for falling behind again. It appears that life prefers me to move at a snail's pace instead of how my mind wants to be in the race. Thank you so much for enjoying the story and reviewing.

Oh no! They are now in huge danger. What a time to stop writing. NE ertheless the first part was quite fascinating as Cooper found it the reality about where all the money had come from. How ingenious! Well written. I'll hurry on to the next chapter.

Wow. Imagine that! Someone being KIND to the immigrants and helping them as they arrived! Seems about right that would be kept hush hush~~just not for the same reasons we here on the news these days...but that's another kettle of fish.
I love that it's been revealed that there was a generosity of spirit and money...
Cooper has been carrying a heavy load thinking he was educated by blood money.
As for Bennie! What a dolt! How could he be so careless with that ring?
My head is spinning...he's going to pop a cork when he realizes what's happened with his dad!
I'm going to need twelve step meetings. I'm addicted to this novel.

This is an interesting chapter. Cooper has to be proud of the grandfather he was previously ashamed of, but what is he going to do with the money? The idea that Lance and Bennie are going to give the diamonds away doesn't seem likely, but Bennie seems determined. Mason and Paddy are the only two behaving as Cooper would have expected.

The plot thickens again! It sounds like Bennie is in trouble for more than one reason and the diamonds are about to change hands again. You always write so many interesting twists in your plots. Enjoying this book!
Blessings.

Leaving a ring so valuable on bathroom sink is pretty careless. I believe Bennie is far more concerned about the ring than he is his father but he is a thief to begin with so money is the most important thing for them. Paddy and Mason are even more dangerous thieves. I see you have posted the next chapter so I'll get to read it soon.

Leaving the ring was an accident in his rush to get out of town. And he has no idea his father has been beaten. He feels guilty about the jewels but not quite ready to give them back...hopefully he will have a change of heart. Mason and Paddy on the other hand are just plain mean and thieves.
Thanks for the review, Beth. Appreciate it!
Smiles. Carol
