Oh, what a fun write. It was very thoughtful of your husband to do what he did - knowing how worn out you were from visits with your mon. And so you came to the house and there was real thanksgiving food! I admired rhyming, meter, imagery, visuals and presentation.

Make a wish. Wouldn't you, as a mother, have something done unto yourself as you have done so many times unto another. Yes ... and no. The joy I think moms enjoy is giving herself to those she loves. Still, having it returned, even once is or was a blessing as told here.

I was so happy when I found out we weren't having deer heats on a stick. He was trying to make me more appalled so I wanted to be gone that morning.

How wonderful! I can't imagine my family doing something so awesome, but I can dream that they would. I think they would say "cancel the day" because none of them want to clean, cook, or be responsible for anything but eat!

This is a fun take on a Thanksgiving meal that one wouldn't really look forward to, particularly the fish and deer hearts on a stick.
Luckily it was the family trying to pull one over on a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
