Thanks Terry for reviewing my Thanksgiving poem. I was kinda low on things to be thankful for that year, so it ended up with many blessings.
And thanks for the nice comments about my picture w my daughter.
Altho she was hesitant at first, so glad we encouraged Sally to post her poem. I was tempted to critique her font and size but decided I just couldn't.

Debi, I do think it would have been hilarious if one of he friends had given her a 3 and mentioned everything she wrote about in the poem...I do think her sense of humor would have prevailed.

Thank you Roy.it really was a surprise because he had never done anything like that before. But they had just a little bit too much fun w the joke because the thought of something called deer hearts on a stick sounded so gross. And that was his plan that he wanted me to be so appalled that I would for sure want to leave the house to see my mom on Thanksgiving. It did turn out wonderful and I didn't have to do anything. Special memories like that are ones we still laugh about, as my kids still remember.

Joanna, you are so sweet. This is still a memory that we laugh about every year on Thanksgiving. My kids are all grown up but they still laugh about how grossed out I was by deer hearts on a stick. LOL there no such thing. He just made tt up so I for sure would leave that morning to see my mom. Thanks my sweet friend for your lovely comments for my poem. So appreciated!

You should definitely repeat such a lovely day. Having to do so many chores sometimes makes you miss out on all the fun.

This is a lovely poem that expresses the true value of a loving family. What a wonderful surprise it must have been for you! Sometimes it is when we reluctantly resolve to concede to others that we end up with our heart's desires. Very nice story in a poem.

Thank you Sue! And Lol, I was happy to hear that there was no such thing as deer hearts on a stick. He said he just made it up real fast to gross me out so bad that I would want to leave that morning. But yes it truly was a good thing that he redeemed himself. What a wonderful surprise and a great gift from all your family. I imagine you really expected to find fish frying, I would have. How wonderful to have a real Thanksgiving just like the first one where everyone brought something to the feast.

It truly was a hard time on me and my hubby knew I would have done it all myself if he didn't fool me. I was so happy when I found out we weren't having deer hearts on a stick. He was trying to make me more appalled so I wanted to be gone that morning.

A very heartwarming story about a true Thanksgiving feast to remember. Growing up, I had fond memories of Thanksgiving. Living abroad all these years, I miss Thanksgiving.
Lately, we have been making Thanksgiving at home, usually just for the two of us, sometimes, we invite others over, but with COVID that has become rarer Last time, I had a real Thanksgiving with my parents and siblings must have been back in the late '70s. I was always somewhere else on Thanksgiving day. Too difficult to travel back just for Thanksgiving, did a few Christmas dinners over the years though.

Oh Jake, you make me more sad then I was that whole month before that horrible Thanksgiving. I wish you could be with your family or have them come see you. Do you still have siblings in the states? I am sending thankful wishes your way, because I am thankful for your friendship and also hoping that you will see family soon. Life is just too short. Thank you my dear friend for your kind comments and even tho it's not your thing, I can still say a prayer for a better holiday season for you this year! : )
