Welllll. I don't have "ESPN" or anything (smile)-- but I did mention Bennie would be hard pressed not to take advantage of what he saw as a windfall! For once I anticipated right!

I hate to beat a dead horse to death but going back a few chapters when you described Lance as a Teetotaler, once again I read this passage:

"You mentioned you were with Lance. You can't put any coin in your pocket that way. I can smell the highfalutin bourbon Lance drinks all over you. How will you make a living sitting around drinking with him?"

....And that description seems to be not at all true. What's up? Nobody else sees him as one who would never imbibe!

I must be missing something. (I hate that!)

Help!

Karenina

See? I go a little loopy when I review so many chapters at once! Excuse me... and I'm definitely not a "biter!" LOL.

I've got one avid reader who keeps asking for Garth (she loves the cowboy) so I will make a few alterations and accommodate her imagination I think. But she also thinks she's got Peter and Elizabeth figured out and I'm not telling her she might be way off base. Surprise!

Well. You may have just let the cat out of the bag if she reads reviews as I do!

This is another excellent chapter. You have me wondering,"Will Bennie be able to keep his mouth shut?" I look forward to the next chapter. I do not see any need for improvement.

First and foremost, I want to thank you for continuing to read and enjoy the story. You put a smile on my face. I appreciate your time and your thoughtfulness.

Sorry for the delay but we have just had our 7th death in our family and close friends this year and it's taking a serious toll on all of us. Thank you for understanding.

Apologize for the standard post.... Hugs, Carol

I am going to look up how to write excellent in many languages, so I don't have to keep saying the same thing. I love the story line and the intense feel of it. I think Cuz will cause some problems. Have a great evening. Shirley

Benny and Lance keep on drinking until, what sounds like guns going off, really has them nervous, and Benny scurrying for cover, until he realises it's just a backfiring old bomb, and then with diamonds in his pocket, meets his dad at the bar, well done Carol, blessings Roy

Benny's carelessness and greed, along with his big mouth, will prove costly. Lance may very well be in danger, even from his own cousin. I am very much enjoying your story!

    Good morning, Wendy

Hugs and thank you for reading and enjoying the story. I believe danger will be lurking in many places and for many people. They'll also learn that secrets abound in everyone's lives and a friend's bond is sacred.

It looks like Lance has got some trouble coming his way. He should have kept the diamonds to himself. I am interested in this story even though it is not my favorite type. I look forward to the next chapter.

Oh no! Poor Lance is in real trouble now. First the teller told everyone at the bank. Next Bennie says run with the jewels and now he told his dad who probably has connections with O'Hara's group. Things are heating up really fast. And the nice bartender also noticed the ring. Seems like the cat's out of the bag!
I liked the scare of the the car driving by as a kind of foreshadowing.

Lance's past will prevent him from stealing the diamonds, but his loyalty to Bennie will tempt him. Bennie was raised by his dad and lived on the streets. Survival trumps all else. And the secret unravels so quickly.

Thanks so much Helen for supporting my story and me. The stars are awesome but you are far more heart warming and exactly what I need.

    Smiles and hugs, Carol
