This was a great poem. Many people have made the mistake of not getting out of danger. Material things can be replaced. A life cannot. People have returned to retrieve material items and have perished. Thank you for sharing this post. Have a great weekend.

When life ends the one thing, we will take with us is our memories. I often say, our minds will be the book of judges that only we and the Divine know all the material facts or if we are b.s.ing.

You couldn't be more right Tom. I don't know about the bs, but I know I have spent much of my life lying to myself and God and I guess, that is bs. Trying to be better now, but thankful I don't have to be perfect, as that was taken care of for me. Another great review and comments my dear friend! Thank you so much!

Can you imagine standing before the Supreme bar trying to explain wrongs done when all the facts and figures coming pouring forth from our memories? Brrrr.

Thank you so much Teri, I think the hardest of all those things that I talked about in my poem was to get the folder of the silly little drawing that my grandchildren had made for me throughout the years. Those are of no value to anyone else, but they are priceless to me. However my message is something that I would hope I remember if that ever occurred. Thank you for your kind comments, as I knew you would be on the same page with your faith and values.
    Thank you again my friend!

You do give us a real sense of the emotions of yrying to work out what you wanted to save in a house fire. Realising that it is the life that is wirth saving the most. A good entrant for this contest, good luck with it.
Cheers

This is a wonderful poem. It really makes you stop and think about what's really important in life. It got me thinking about what I would take and I realized that my family is all I need. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest.

This is a beautifully written poem. It has a great flow and rhyme scheme. I've come to realize that material things don't mean anything being safe is. Photo works well with your words. So sad to lose one's home to fire. But it's nothing compared to losing one's life. Good luck in the contest.

I enjoy reading this rhyming poem. I enjoy reading this rhyming poem. I have learnt a few things from you because I haven't given it a thought yet. I like the greatest find in the end.

Well done.

I had to think after reading your poem, what material things would be so important to me that I would risk my life to save. A family Bible passed down through the generations and a family photo album with those precious moments we shared in life would probably be the only ones. All other things we can replace. I thought you got to the end perfectly knowing what your priorities were. Well done, and great contest entry. Good luck. :)) Sandra xxx

Material things can be replaced. What we have inside us are much more valuable. Our memories, our goals and self-esteem, plus common sense! Nice entry for the contest.
