"Old Fashion Basics" attempts to make a very large political analysis by rhyming epigrammatic, sloganistic pieces of advice on how to make America great again. (A verb phrase derived from a political personality who arguably neither had nor has no any idea what greatness enjoins. Uh-oh. Yes, indeed, no more of this...)
Ingenuous/innocent thinking may be able to play a role in political improvements, but any real suggestions have to involve a more penetrating look into ourselves and into the nature of power and compliance in the world.
So - I'm rating it as a cute but somewhat naive poem.

G'mornin Frank. I am only responding because I know how much you love being challenged. Cute isn't actually what I was going for, and using the word great as in the Bible and asking God to make us strong again, has not a thing to do with Trump. If you look at the prompt for the contest, then you will probably see that using our own opinions were what was instructed. I didn't realize that we were supposed to have a major in political analyzing Lu with a minor in power and compliance in the world. Actually those are the types of people who have gotten us into the mess we are in now. So if by me calling out the dishonest bought and paid for politicians, unnecessary spending, wanting more dependable honest people with ethics and values and those that would lead our country with the morals from God and by asking Him to make us strong again is cute and naive, then it scares me what some might think more appropriate. However, I do wish reviewers would look at the prompt and instructions for the contest before reviewing.
I choose to keep my Pollyanna way of thinking because I don't want to be negative and miserable the rest of my life. And as always, I mean no disrespect. You of course are my friend and I still love you Frank,

Well. Love is the answer, at least a big part of the answer. But - by itself, it's not sufficient. The things that go wrong in the world are largely a result of influences that too many people are unaware of embodying, by which I mean installing as structures of judgment and attitude that are used automatically, without genuine consideration. We, as a species of animal with a huge brain, have vulnerabilities and also have instinctive responses that we often don't register. NEway, be well. Frank

Lol, and that's why I don't run for office. I just enter contest's to at least some of what our country needs. I am only in my sixties so I feel I have a fair amount of time left and certainly want things good for kids and grandkids. But I am old enough to know we were a good to great generation. Things weren't perfect with war etc.. but as kids we didn't fear being kidnapped, being shot in our schools and I even remember in my old country school in third grade exactly where I was when Kennedy was shot. Our work ethics were great, our families were big and we knew how to go without. I should write a story or poem about. Then I will send it to you for a six star review. Lol! So with this contest, there was no place for dynamics and formulas or structure. It was just a little poem about what our little dream was that would make a difference in our country.
Btw Frank, my friend, checkout the FS friend Surprise contest where I think you were mentioned at least twice. Your name is on them.

I don't know how to enter chats or discussions or find something like a friend surprise contest. I know there is more to this site than I know about. Anyway, thank you for your kindness. I don't know how to fix a civilization, although I've thought about it a lot. I wrote dozens of essays, some of which are in my portfolio, some published on facebook. Everybody wants cuteness and good news; I like good news, but I have this compulsion to figure out why things go so wrong so often. Anyway, I feel largely overlooked at FS, so your comments put some sugar in my coffee. Frank

I agree with you totally that so many rockets need not be sent at the tax payers expense .But I am not sure about fe waivers. Isn;t it good that children can learn with out stress?

I'm not sure there's a simplistic answer to this, after all, the political leaders come from your midst, I don't think it's going to be easy,. Unity of a country starts from the basic level, the family, I wouldn't want to be a politician in America, they tend to be condemned already, but this is a good chance, an excellent write, well done blessings Roy

"Has anyone in Washington been briefed on National Debt," is a common refrain from my husband, who worked in finance all his life and understands how we accumulate it and pay it down. He doesn't believe anyone in Washington gets it.
Good luck with this contest. Perhaps we should send all entries to our politicians.

And they are stealing hard earned workers tax money. Burning it up in space. A place where we have no business according to God. People on earth need places to work and live. No one should be homeless and hungry. We will not live on any other planet other than earth. God put us here on earth. Thank you for sharing.

I think sometimes politicians forget that their job is not undermining their opponents and winning power at all costs. Their job is what they do when they have that power. They've been distracted by the theatre of government and forgotten their purpose. I thought this was very well written.

This is a good poem with a well-suited illustration. Some sentences have end punctuation, but most don't--some consistency might be helpful. There are problems with possessive forms in several sentences; in some cases, apostrophes are where they should be, and in others, they are not.
One example: " are what forefather's planned" should be 'forefathers.'
This was a nice effort, and I wish you the best.
