Because I'm a nerd into addiction
Albeit a weathered one
Dopamine like blackberries needs to be enjoyed going along
The creative process.
Eating all in the end/ designating the result the greatest joy.
Gives a spike of dopamine.
This my friend is said to be the cause of addiction.
So in order to Ballance out and keep dopamine at a stable level.
Think of The journey , the process
As the cream and the cherry.
Yes, the six stars is the cherry and needs to be celebrated.

This is a very interesting read G and you have put a lot of thought into it.
I found 'the real writer ' paragraph interesting because it was what I thought years ago when I first started writing. We do the 5minute write in our local group, its a great challenge.

Thanks for another essay on the writer's life. You bring out some good points about myths and how to ignore them. I especially like it when you say calling a first draft "shitty" is like "calling a baby a crappy human because it isn't an adult yet!" Thanks for continuing to write these helpful articles.

Mangling The Writing Myth gives writers a lot to think about, even if they are not 'real writers,' so all you artificial writers can read it too! The story gives thoughts about 'The Muse,' 'Shitty First Drafts,' and 'Brutal Honesty." I believe that some folks may associate the idea of a 'real writer' as being someone who earns their living through their writing and does not need a 'day job.'

Appreciate this sound advice for all writers. And perhaps it should be added to the New Member's required reading here, especially the part on "Brutal Honesty." I also liked how you dispelled these myths and gave some helpful alternative exercises to do.

(G, the above is so true. Some of my best writing took me minutes to write, hours to revise, but the idea came in a moment--that bolt from the blue.)

I think its a great essay that contains lots of great advice. Just because we are on the internet doesn't negate the work we do here. I look at it as a pretty good platform for getting my themes across, and I have been pleasantly surprised sometimes at the different perspectives I've gotten here, often things I never would have thought of myself or angles I would never have guessed at. estory

A Christian edict is the belief that there is power in words, and you are what you confess you are, new writers here tend to be apologetic for their presence in the company of "professionals", but I try to tell them we are all on a journey, the best motivation is the desire to write, even non-native English speakers launch into the journey, these folk I admire the most, I try to encourage them, while correcting their grammar, I appreciate all, they are certainly more braver than I, beautifully written, great advice G, blessings Roy
