What do I say about this poem/song. It is clearly a C&W song because you have the word "cheating" in it. That is one of the foundational words of country songs, Mom, love, pickup truck, heart, cheating. Anything made up of those ideas is a country song, no doubt about it.

Some lucky man, I believe on Fan Story (The soul's what I see; there is no face) has captured your heart and your attentions.

Excellent song Debi, put it to music and let us hear it.

Indeed! Actually a cousin who's very musical family lives three miles from here, has been a famous fiddle player in Branson for many years, and played for many famous singers. Mostly Buck Trent and Mel Tillus until his death in 2017. Since then was taking a little break w his own family in Calgary, in Canada, but maybe back to it now. Anyway was thinking of sending him the recording that I had made. He always used to say my poetry should be put to music. You can google him; Bruce Hoffman, originally from Howard Lake, MN.

I am coming back to this poem because it gives me such comfort and delight. It fills my heart with fire and every time I read it. I will keep reading it until either it or I disappears.

I am taking great pains with this message because I have looked at a couple of my other ones and I don't know how you or anyone could even make it through them. All I have to do is slow down and concentrate and make my messages short.

So, thanks again for this poem my dear, lovely friend.

Aw, Debi--

I love country music and could almost pick out a melody to accompany these lovely words that speak, to me, not of a romantic relationship--but of something much purer and full of grace!

It almost feels like country/gospel to me ~ which is a mix of genres that I love!

If I'm wrong in my interpretation, I'll take it--because this "take" on your lyrics makes me smile!

Karenina, No you are not wrong, but ABSOLUTELY ON THE MARK!! Thank you so much for understanding this. Most were kind about it, but just couldn't get that I don't have a cheating heart is about my husband. A different kind of love and virtual brother by God's loving grace doesn't not spell out romance.
And I missed you as I feel like you have been gone for a while. Is Ed doing worse again? Or your friend? I wish I could hire you to take care of us, because Glen is going in to have his other hip done on Monday and I am still big time busy everyday w PT, HHC and OT, but it has to be this way since I wouldn't go to a transitional care center. I thank you my lovely friend for the awesome review and your always kind words! You are such a healing friend! Once a caring nurse, always a caring nurse!

Oh, great! I always say each poem has a true interpretation for each reader...

I'm glad I felt the pulse of this one!

I'm sorry I've been missing days here on FS.

No one thing in particular ~ just a series of things that have been swallowing my time.

    Listen to me!

You've got a million things going on and still manage to review and post and carry on like super-woman!

Ed is doing much better, thanks. You've been on my mind and in my prayers, as had Glen!

reply by the author on 02-Aug-2022
So with Glen being in 6 days away, means I am only one month away from my next surgery.. Which I have to admit to you that although I have had so many in my life and never feared them, but after cheating death with this one, I have to say I am a little concerned that it may happen again. They had no problem telling me that they were afraid that I would not make it. 😘❤️🤗
reply by karenina on 02-Aug-2022
Ugh! I guess if there's one thing I would change about the medical community at large, it's that they cannot express the seriousness of surgery with a less "abrasively honest" tone!

You've been on a marathon for the summer!

Thank goodness you have lots of prayer-cheers going out for you and Glen!

    God's got this!

You have the heart and soul of a Country belle who can write and probably sing her face off. I would love to hear this gem. You know, I started off writing song lyrics. I actually rejected an opportunity to audition for the famed Motown in favor of joining the US Air Force. Motown's loss, I wish.

Thanks so much Nomi, I am so happy that you could hear the tune in this, because it can't have the same rhythm as a poem, because the tune changes all of that. But being a songwriter yourself you knew that. However it was written from the heart and as we speak is being recorded by a young girl who is on her way to the top. So many thought this was a romantic song and must not have been listening to the parts that said it was a different kind of love that you can have and still and adore someone in a way that is pure and platonic, but still love. I cannot tell you how much your review, comments and generous six stars mean to me and as soon as I figure it out, I will find a way to get you a copy of it, or at least send it to you by email. Also make sure you check out the listings of contests as there is one in there that I know that you will want to do, but is due in two days. I left other messages, but wanted to make sure you didn't miss it. Best of luck with that my very special friend and brother, by God's loving grace!

That was beautifully written. These are the days to be monogamous. You are very loving and sincere. I hope you are cherished as much or if more by this adored man.

Good luck in the contest :)

You are so sweet, but I maybe should have been a little more clear that this man who I adore is dear friend who has walked in faith with me, in fellowship. My husband is very dear to me and he understood the song, but I told him about him and he understood completely. So as I am saying that it's not what you may think and I don't have a cheating heart. I do love your beautiful review and kind words my friend!

I just love Country music, so of course I'm going to love your country song. Like most popular songs, this one tells a love story about someone with whom the speaker falls in love, someone unseen, yet seen, because she loves his soul. Perhaps they met on a writing site like this one. It is, as you say, no crime to love and adore someone you know only through their words and spirit. I can certainly relate to this. Good luck in the contest. MM

Debi.. not for one moment did I think you had a cheating heart. I thought you were writing about a friend you somehow acquired without ever having met him face to face. To me, there is no difference between a friend who happens to be male and one who is female. A friend is a friend and those of us who love our husbands do not even think of cheating. I love many people. So it seems logical to me that you might too. I guess my review could have been worded better. I apologize. Hugs, MM

Actually it was me who felt the need to apologize, as you didn't do or say anything out of line my dear friend. I had wished I hadn't been a little mysterious, but just as poetry is like songs, it might be a little boring if we didn't have a little mystery in it. But thank you Merri, as you are so gracious and always so kind. I've never felt such love for an entire group as much as I do for you all here. God Bless my friend!

A nice poem about your son, I'll bet he's really proud of all you've written. If he's a terrific person, I would have to say he was raised right. Good luck in the contest.

Oh thank you so very much Heather! But this one was about an online friend of faith, who I adore who has walked in fellowship with me through a rough time. But you might be thinking about the one I wrote before this about my son, who I truly adore! Thank you so much my lovely friend!

Debi, This is a very good country song. I can almost hear it playing now. They say if you can write a poem, you can write a song. I'll soon find out, I have a professional music writer working on a song I wrote. You should write more lyrics. Your friend, Willie.

Willie, you are a man worth adoring as well. This song is actually about someone who has been a supportive and caring person of faith and a friend who I adore. But tells of a non romantic feeling as I proclaim not having a cheating heart against my husband of 48 years. However it seems most still think it's someone that I am in love with...... So I thank you once again my awesome friend for your very kind review, comments and most gracious six stars! They are so very appreciated my awesome friend!

It feels like a country song, which I think is the point. I am left wondering who the man is that you love but have never met. I can see why you are a top ranked poet.

Oh Judith, I just want to grab you through the screen and give you a hug and then sing my song for you. It isn't as smooth as poem would be because of the tune I have it in. However I would welcome your edits. I always appreciate any feedback so please let me know what you are thinking. I actually had a few changes in mind now that It is no longer in contest, like changing some of the words. And thanks for your awesome review and always sweet words, we'll talk soon I hope.

It is good just as it is. I went back to read it again and I wouldn't change a dang thing.
    Peace to you

Debi, what a wonderful heartfelt tribute to your man. Your chorus is most lyrical it made me want to tune up my dulcimer and pick away. Success in this contest and all your beautiful writings.
