Thanks for a wonderful rhyming poem of couplets that expresses many of my own feelings about negativity. I think you strike just the right note. I especially like the line, "The person that you hurt, might have needed you that day." The line "Learn to say you're sorry, when you know you've been a jerk" clearly calls out one of my own pet peeves.

I really appreciate this work. It reflects what is currently happening to many people in today's world. Some days, it is difficult to be positive--but we can't lose that!! A "harsh attitude" does nothing to help oneself or others. Thanks for sharing. elaine

You did a great job, Debi, with your contest entry. I liked the
couplet rhyming format. Your many examples highlight the
negative attitudes of many. They seem to want everyone to
be like themselves, so they try to make them feel bad. In that
way, they belittle others which makes them feel superior. Even
when one is feeling down, there are ways to improve, but it takes
effort which many won't put forth. Your words flowed smoothly
with great rhymes.

So, this is your pet peeve, huh? I have many that would make you understand there are no pet peeves worth worrying about in the long run. I like the theme and the rhyming choices work well. I like the message of being positive instead of negative. I try to be positive most all the time. I am thought of as a positive sort of person and I like that very much!

This is a great one Debi. Those smirks make my stomach churn. When you speak to some people, they look at you as if you were crazy. There are many people who are so negative. I feel they should stay at home.

Feeling better I hope. Are you home. As for this penning I think those that do were likely abused, and cannot find the silver lining in a cloud, which by the way is how rain falls after a molecule of h2o joins with hydroscopic nucleii.

I am doing a little bit better every day Tom. Thanks for always being so supportive, as when the pain gets too bad, I have a folder in my Notes that says Tom, and I paste some of your awesome messages to me. And they always give me a boost and I find a way to get through it. Thanks again for such a kind and caring review. And once again I love your little extras that sometimes challenges my little blonde brain, but I alway get it eventually and you always make me feel better..Even tho I sometimes wonder why I turned down the narcotics, as then I could have had twice the boost. Actually this time I understood your scientific comment right away. hehe! Thanks again for always putting that smile on my face.

We have a woman in our town who is very unhappy and has caused a few upsets in the local supermarket. We have a woman in our town who is very unhappy and has caused a few upsets in the local supermarket. The woman that you referred to that lost it at the grocery store only proves to me how many could use just a brighter outlook. Actually as much as it is my pet peeve, I mostly wrote this to be more helpful than criticize those people. My faith and walk with Christ is what keeps my cup bubbling over. Yet It's hard to always be at our best and never get down, but we do have the ability to look on the bright side and try to find a way to stay kind and respectful. And you my friend are exactly that. S, your poem reminds me of a lady that I worked with who disliked negative people. She use to say, "Mean people s*ck." BTW, I hated that expression. However, I never really analyzed what she saying, but I realize now what she was saying--negative people are mean people. Perhaps, she was right?
Also of note:
Why do you complain; can you not see any good?
(In some cases, I have learned that the complainer is a person who really wants things to be better--correct and right. They are a perfectionist and usually very hard of themselves and the people around them. And then my dear SOTU, there are some people who complain about everything, and those people would even ruin a big lottery win--lol.
Not everyone brings the sunshine in the way that you do.
I also liked:
Step onto a playground and you'll smile instead of frown
(The above is so true. The playground of life is filled with smiles...and little children too! A child can turn any frown into a smile.)
