I haven't caught up with Discovery or Strange New Worlds yet, but I am intrigued. It always amused me that they insisted Picard was French, despite being playing as an Englishman, by an Englishman. It's only when presented as a potted history that things start to look even sillier than we already perceived them, lol.

For me, the story is, great writing, great directing and varied characters who are gifted with awesome acting talent, spells success, continuing success over many, many years. I really believe that were it not for the success of Star Trek, there might never have been a Star Wars, an ET, or even an Independence Day.
