Good writing tips in your Writing Diet, G.
Beware the beauty - that's one I need to remember. As I was reading through I found myself nodding. I will certainly reference this. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Cheers

Hello, I came to your piece to return the favour of reviewing, and it is clear from reading this that you know what you're talking about. It's fun for me to read, while I know all these rules, knowing and adhering to them are two different things and I find myself making enough of those mistakes. It's great that you put a comprehensive list out!

This is a great list for those who want to hone their skills. My favorite part of writing is editing with attention to the streamlining skills you list. So many writers on FS who get five stars do not deserve it because of the flaws you mention. Unfortunately, those members are willing to throw tomatoes and worse to those who dare to rate them a three or four!

Thanks for this great advice! At first, when I glanced at your post and saw "diet" in your title and your ending of "Be active," I thought, well I better start jogging while reading this! Great tips!

I don't do 'exercise'! lol

You're still young! For us older folks, we have to work harder to keep the status quo, exercising from first waking - eye exercises for dry eyes, ankle circles before getting out of bed...

Thank you for this post, as I found the information both engaging and relevant.
I am guilty of all topics listed:)
My biggest challenge is with modifiers.
I enjoy writing in a descriptive way, as most writers/poets do, but I tend to keep adding to my verbs instead of selecting a stronger one to begin with. My thinking is the more I add description, the better the writing. Not true!
I plan to print this post so I can reread and use as a reference.
Thanks for sharing.

We're all guilty sometimes. Description is great but it's stronger when there's more robust words. if you using modifier try to ensure it's strong and only use one. Sometimes though, you may need to be verbose. lol Many thanks. G

One of the extraordinary things about writing is one seems to sense from the outset these things you're pointing out, they should be automatic to the perceptive writer, but in the quagmire of emotion in the beginning, are sometimes lost. Repetition is a useful part of my writing armoury, but one needs a particular strong line worth repeating. Beautifully done G, blessings Roy

Spot on, Roy. If there's a reason and purpose behind it and it matters then it makes sense to do it. G
