This is a very well written 25 word story. You used very good descriptive words and very good imagery. You told a story in 25 words that read very well. Thank you for sharing. Blessings, Teri

This twenty-five-word story, Sentry, brings us to a grave and last loyal friend who will spend his last days on this final post guarding the faithful fallen friend. Touching.

Wow, Bret, you really managed to write a full story in only twenty-five words. It's amazing. The imagery is what clinch this narrative. I really liked it and wished it would have been part of a contest. Ulla:)))

It is sad when a dog loses his master. It is worse when they can't let them go. You did a great job with this 25 word story as always. I hope you enjoy your day. Shirley

Wow, proof that sometimes few words can get a point across as well as pages. A twenty-five word story that requires a 150 character review doesn't seem fair to the writer. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

Have not shared this with many others, but wanted to let you know considering stepping away from FanStory, or at least slowing way, way down. Mostly because my cancer prevents me from spending the time on it necessary to do everything an active member should do. Two new tumors found yesterday. Have always appreciated your support.

Well, I would sure hate to see you step away, but can certainly understand with everything you've been going through. I had noticed that although you've been posting, you have cut back on reviewing. Whatever you decide to do, know that I will miss your work and reviews that have helped me more than you could possibly realize. You will be in my prayers every day and hopefully you can put this behind you soon! God bless!

Good one, Brett. You have used the economy of the form to intensify the sense of loyalty. In my part of the world, we'd say 'a couple of short days', but that may just be a regional difference.

Yes, the dog is loyal to his master to the very end of its own
life. Your story tells of the bond between man and dog. It's a
great thing. Too bad people don't learn from animals in so
many ways. The picture is awesome.
Thanks for sharing, Jan

Great job with this. We hear stories of dogs who have guarded their masters who have died. They are so loyal. I remember George H. Bush's service dog stood guard when his master's body was lying in state. Maybe the poor dog in your story grieved himself to death. Excellent work, and good luck in the contest. judi

That is a sad short story. I always feel sorry for dog that feels it is his duty to guard of his owner. I assume the dog cared so much for his master that he neither ate nor drank until he died. The story is complete in 25 short words.
