I love this so much. You give the reader a wonderful picture of a friendship that will forever live in your heart. Memories are so precious and you did an awesome job of putting yours into words.

What a wonderful story and a beautiful memory of your friend and the bond that you made.
The poem seemed to flow seamlessly down the page and was a joy to read. Bravo!

Narrative poetry that possesses rhythm, my favorite combination. The cover art also does a good job of foreshadowing what the poem might be about, before one gets to reading it. Good work!!

Thanks, Elviss. Thank God, you haven't left the building. You've probably heard that one before.

Thanks, Melissa. Bart was going through a simple procedure for treatment of early detected bladder cancer. He got an infection, and things went downhill from there.

Thanks for the review, Melbelles, and thanks for the tears. Sometimes get teared up when I write these poems.

I wish Bart could have read this beautiful tribute to him memory. He would have been pleased. A friendship like you've described comes only a few times in a lifetime and should be cherished. It's great you still have some of his shoes. Best wishes in the contest.

Thanks for the review. Because his shoes are so comfortable, I wear them everyday.

Very nice poem, Paul, thanks for sharing it with us on FanStory! You tell the story well, without forcing the words to fit the rhyme scheme. And you have taken me to Northern Maine where I spent many days visiting from Canada in my youth. Your friendship with Bart sounds like a deep and lasting one, and I'm sure he lives on in your memories! I enjoyed the read, thank you!
