I love a good storm poem, Sugarray77, and this one is very strong. I think the kryielle form is a very good choice for the topic and your selection for a repeated line did well to build anticipation and serve as a kind of thesis for your work. Clear rhymes with an easy flow throughout, and beautiful paired imagery make this a great read. Out of curiosity, where did you source your image - it is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

I can't begin to tell you how much I like this one. I generally don't like the rigidity of Kyrielles, but your word choices make it interesting. Marauding storms and sporadic spatters are just two examples of what I am talking about.
You paint a vivid picture in my mind. That photo helps as well.
Winner!

Dear Mellissa, your work just keeps on giving and giving! I truly read this and was transported to my grandparents ranch with the wrap around porch and rocking in thier old rock, watching the storms develop in the western sky. Powerful work here, friend!

Hey there Diane... sorry for the late note of thanks... I taught a cooking class yesterday to the young women of our church. It was so fun!! Our theme was summer salads and I made Paula Deen's Banana pudding ~ I highly recommend it for a summer dessert. I am delighted you liked the Kyrielle!! I share a love of storms with you too. :). Hugs!

An excellent poem with a very well chosen image to support your vivid words. You have expressed both the anticipation and the arrival of the storm very accurately and strongly. I can almost smell the rain and hear it, breaking the eerie silence. Sorry, no sixes left.

I do not like to hear thunder or see lightening. They are dangerous. I pray when it storms. And those winds are harsh. I worry about tree limbs falling on the house. Or falling on electric wiring. That picture you have on here shows a wicked sky. Full of Nimbus clouds. I would probably have a heart attack seeing this sky. Thank you for sharing.

Oh Carolyn, I'm sorry that this poem and photo upset you. You are right that the sky looks so ominous, but part of my intent was to show the tension of the sounds of an approaching storm. Thanks for the review!

Well done Melissa! You made me want to run for cover.
That is the most amanous cloud I have ever seen. I saw one like that December 18, 1957 when a Tornado hit my home town and did a lot of damage. You earned my last six, Dear. Well done. Nancy:)

Hello, dear Nancy. Thank you for the lovely rating, but I'm sooo sorry that you have seen a similar sky in your lifetime... whew, that storm must have been awful. I really appreciate your review.

That is an ominous photograph. The advancing cloud looks like some creature with massive paws.

Your Kyrielle poetic is written with terrific metre and rhyme, and your imagery brings the entire to scene to 3D life.

Enjoyed this very much. :))
