How did I miss this? I feel like I need to run for cover! It is so detailed and thorough about the many parts of a storm. Great word choice or should I say, image-producing word choices? Wonderful! Congratulations!

Nicely done kyrielle, Melissa. It uses metaphor and imagery well. I like the lance metaphor for lightning. It also has the sounds or lack of them in the description. Good job in getting all sides of the storm.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Congrats on winning the contest.

Such a magnificent poem, Melissa! It is impossible to read this masterpiece without feeling, tasting, totally experiencing the approaching storm. That is what good writing does... make the reader experience what you are describing. The fact that you managed to shape this into a Kyrielle is even more remarkable. I wish I'd found this sooner, but better late than never, I guess. ;p (I have been away from my computer a lot due to my husband's fall.) I wish you the best in the POM contest. It looks like a winner to me. Hugs, MM

A pristine Kyrielle, which, when read aloud falls delicately upon my heart and reminds me of the power of sublime poetic verse! Your refrain is, hands down, the most impressive I've read...

Congratulations on being nominated as the poem of the month. Impeccable verse, that deserves to be so honored!

Melissa, this is a truly awesome poem. I could feel myself swept up in the storm. They happen often in my town.
I love the perfect rhythm and your effective word choice.

This is a wonderful piece of writing. How you give emotions to the mere elements of weather, impressive! I loved how not one of the verses is longer or shorter than it should be.

Hello Elviss.. thank you for your wonderful review. I enjoy writing poetry in the Kyrielle form. It requires eight syllables per line with a repeating line at the end (refrain). So appreciate your comments!

Wow, for someone who penned their first poem just four years ago, you must've hit a ground in high gear. Outstanding, and congratulations on first place. I wish I had a six.

You're right, I'm a southern boy. And like you, I love a good storm, along with the clean, fresh smell it leaves. A lovely day back at you! :-)

I love your Kyrielle form and iambic meter. It has a pleased rhythm.

Exquisite imagery and sound of the storm, wind, trees, birds....such vivid picture. I can almost feel the wind through the trees.
