This is a hilarious poem! I love how you use plenty of hyperboles and exaggeration, especially in the line, "Everything I thought about, always looked like food..." unless you only think about food? Very well done.

Actually on Dec 28, 2019, I said enough is enough, and quit smoking.
I didn't even wait for New Years. I sure picked a bad time for that, but with a couple months smoke free, I wasn't about to fail again. So now it was much worse when covid struck, and getting tastebuds back from quitting, I just kept asking God to get me through it. I really wasn't quite as bad as I put in my poem, but I gained a lot of weight, and took it all off again by the end of 2021. Thanks for the great review and kind comments my friend. You truly made me smile

A very funny rhymed poem
for the " An object writing prompt contest."

Great imagery. It flows well with good descriptive words that paint a clear mental picture.

The form is well executed and follows the contest rules.

I like the ending too...it's funny.....

Good luck in the contest!

I love this post!!!!!
This is well written, composed and presented. The cloud shaped like a pig is a perfect choice to set the tone:)
The rhymes work well, without feeling forced. They create a pace that is just right.
I am sure a lot of readers can relate to this dilemma. Thanks for sharing.

I have never seen clouds that revealed a pig. You had a great eye on this
this picture. There are so many great tasting food that temp us. And those snacks are hard to resist. I enjoyed reading your poem. It has so much truth about the taste of food, and I guess we all need many prayers.

You're not the only one who turned to food during the Covid crisis. Now we're having a food shortage crisis. I hope you haven't been devouring all the food meant for others, haha. And please don't tell me you've been drinking baby formula.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this poem. It had terrific meter, rhymes and I loved the subject matter. Regards, Lilly

Well, well, you've found a kindred spirit in me. I love my food a little too much too, and I can't even blame the pandemic.

That cloud certainly does resemble a pig, and I found your last line very amusing. Best of luck in the contest!

Cleverly written - a serious poem, but with some humour in it too. I love the virus/crisis rhyme. The line about your liver and the last line were the funniest.

Sounds so familiar. We can get along without booze, we don't HAVE to drink. We can manage without cigarettes; we don't HAVE to smoke. We will do fine without drugs, only scripted do we need. But food, we have no choice, we have to eat. We have to eat at least something and that is where it starts and continues.

What an altruistic poem. Now I'm hungry.

Yes, that pig shaped cloud is definitely a sign from Heaven that you need to follow your husband's advice and slow down. Maybe start taking daily walks when weather permits.
Good luck in the contest with this witty poem.

Yes, I can remember when I gave up smoking, after I put on half a stone, I realised I'd replaced one bad habit with another, so I went on a diet to keep my belt on the same notch. Excellent job, a great poem with rhyming couplets. Good luck, blessings Roy
