It 7s amazing what will spark a poet's imagination. In this case, it's the swirl of dust motes in the air. Mike, you never fail to make tyour words sound free and spontaneous within the strictures of a formal form. Great job. :) Nancy

This one came tumbling out in a rush - a case of the poem being very much about the act of its own creation. I'm so happy you liked it :-)

I scarcely have the words I need to praise this lovely verse -- it's probably the best poem I have read, ever, on the subject of writer's block. :)) I can so envision the graceful dance... (and feel the relief as the "ice malaise" transforms...)

There's a nice lighthearted meter to it, and that uplifting theme of creativity. I liked the images of the swirling dance of light that lifts off the page and transforms the moment of struggle into the moment of discovery and experience. estory

Hello Michael,
This is an excellent poem with marvelous imagery.
Observation is usually the key to writer's block; the smallest eddy often
produces the brightest spark.
Tight focus on subject, nice use of meter, rhyme and enjambment.
Nary a six left on this Saturday.
Best wishes.

I believe you live in a lovely silver of the universe where things whirl around you as you reach out to pluck the ones you want. This was great plucking! You made the dance seem real and your words worked together nicely.

I like everything about your poem. The "what do I... can I write about" feelings... the dust motes flying around as I sit and sigh, almost giving up... the relief when my muse finally nudges me.

This poem makes my day! It is my favorite of the day. For it is clean, clear, focused, and inspirational. It describes a scene that the author found an inspiration by way of not giving up and keeping on trying with open spirit. The thoughts then flow and cascades of words just follow. That is how I understand the poem. Very inspirational. Writers just have to keep trying.

Life that has no need to open trails of any simple thought, might solidify and stall what process has a yearning mind; perhaps the freedom of a simple dance would free the movements of a cherished thought......Nice piece of work......Robi

Thanks, Robi. Sometimes, all I have to do is start writing and the muse springs into action.
