Thanks Janet, I will pass on your happy birthday wish to Mel.
I do truly appreciate your delightful review and comments regarding my poem. I was a little worried that I may have over done the silly this time, so I can't thank you enough.

Lovely one. Well thought through.
Typos: "spring is trying its best" (not "irs best"), and there is also an extra t after "shouldn't" in stanza 1. Best wishes for your entry in the contest.

OMGosh Wendy, I had no right to release this yesterday, as I had infusions that affect my thinking. I was up most of the night trying to fix. Will you please give it another look and tell me what you think?
But thank you for your kind review and comments.

Yes, that is better, much better. Hope you are feeling better. It wasn?t like your usual writing before. Best wishes!

I'm still recuperating, but I am overwhelmed by you doing this thoughtful favor for me.
So please know very grateful I am. And also that you recognized that it wasn't my normal writing! You are an Angel! 😘

Ok., so it may stagger a little bit, but the love and care shine through every word you have written and that is the purpose of the poem.
You are truly blessed to have a daughter in law who is so loved, and vice versa.
So have a lovely Mel/May day and lots of fun. Hope the sun shines through the residue of snow.

(Spring is trying its best to stay.)

Warmly,

Juliette

Hi Debi, I have reviewed this poem when you first posted it. My review is below. This poem is still a goodie. Best wishes to Mel on her birthday.

Hi Debi, a fun birthday and May day card in a poem. Of special note:

Winter lingers, as I still pray
that Spring is really here to stay
(Me too! I'm tired of winter)

Suggestion: review the second verse.

Lovely photo. Is this a picture of you, Debi? Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Yeah that's Mel and me. Margaret this whole poem fell apart and I lost it on advanced editing, and I'm just sick that I can't stop it now and from today I'm not thinking straight. The whole thing is horrible. And I didn't save my ordinal.

A lovely birthday card for your daughter. (why is in-law crossed out? Is this a correction or intentional?) Nice picture too. Aren't daughters the best? I could with for more rhyming rather that the frequent repeat of "Day." I do see the internal rhymes and they are nice, though not very interesting words.

Kate, I lost my poem in advanced editing and tried to go by memory, but had no right posting after having anesthesia today. The whole thing is a mess and dumbo didn't save a copy anywhere. Please check it again tomorrow as I will be working to salvage it.I wrote better stuff at 8 years old. Lol
But thanks Katie! And yes I purposely crossed that out to show how I think of her more like a daughter.

That is a match Mel and may day. A birthday is always fun with friends and family. I understand writing different ways can be fun. You did a good job. It was fun to read and I think it was fun to write for you. Good luck,

I read it again and it's good. You deserve 10 stars. When I lose a piece I get so frustrated it brings tears to my eyes so I know how you feel. Just separate those words that's close and you'll be good. So don't worry about it I liked it. Have a good one and always keep your work in your files or documents. I'm sure you know that. A stressful days can do anything. I had many. So don't worry it's a good poem. Are the girls you?

    Yes, that's Mel and me.
And you are so incredibly sweet and comforting, and I can't thank you enough for taking that time to read it again! Eunice, you are awesome!

This is a sweet poem for Mel and her birthday. It's fun that she is also born on May Day. As a child we always made woven baskets with little gifts for May Day, so have a basket full of love for your day, Mel.

Lol, I'm not sure what possessed me to do this, but it was about wanting to be goofy since our Mel and May days were the same. I might have to do a little more editing,,as it really didn't have anything to do with me, except to show her that I supported her having a day to be pampered, instead of her always doing for my son and 2 grandsons. (Male days) With the bum wrap that mother in-laws get, I was showing my support for that need. Lol, Do I have you more confused yet, Carol? Thanks, as I always respect your honest feedback.

I get it now but sadly still don't see how you were saying that.

Carol, I've been working for hours to fix this as I lost it all in advanced editing, trying to go by memory and was under anesthesia today, I can't believe I didn't save the original. Just thought be honest about the mess I made of this poem
reply by Carol Hillebrenner on 30-Apr-2022
I did the same thing with one of my first ones.

    Thank you again Carol!
I was able to finally get it how I wanted and the reviews are very kind. I truly respect you and your lovely writing, as well as have much respect for your opinion. If you wouldn't mind taking one more look, I will forever be grateful. I think I left just the right amount of silly in there.
    Thanks again my beautiful friend.

Fun, silly and sweet. I'm glad you took the risk of writing it. I like the word play and whimsy. You and your daughter-in-law are lucky to have such a loving relationship! Bravo!

Thank you Sam, but I'm afraid it might still have been a bot of a mess when you saw it, as I just got done from editing. So thank you for your very kind review!
