Hi Debra,
You have quite an imagination to be able to see a mini-universe inside a pickle jar. But I suppose, with all those Mustard, Coriander, Celery, Fennel & Dill seeds, Allspice berries, and whole cloves floating around, it might give that impression. Hey, maybe that's where we are! ...inside one of God's jars of pickles! "PLEASE DON'T SHAKE!"
I love the triolet for its flow and repetition. You did a great job with it, adding stupendous rhymes for "universe/jar",
"Just take a look, it's in my purse -
I'll trade it for a candy bar!"
Nicely penned for the Triolet event in Potlatch Poetry.
Hugs,
Kimbob

that is very ekphrastic :) and you are most original, and humorous.
Wonderful choice of words to rhyme, and what an imagination - a small universe in a pickle jar-in your purse. You should tell that one to your class! Amazing!
PS
Have you just started wearing glasses?

Hi Katharine :)
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. Glad you enjoyed this one - I had fun writing it!
I've worn glasses for a while, but just for long distance... the photo was taken at the theatre on Monday evening - I needed my glasses to see the stage properly!
Best wishes as always, Debra x

The theater, how wonderful.
I haven't been since this crazy covid started. I have to wear them for distance, too, mostly daytime sunglasses.

Excellent Ekphrastic Triolet entry for the Potlatch challenge. I love ekphrastic poems. I really like the presentation of the mini universe. It's a very zen poem.

Comment from Gloria ....
Such a lovely triolet, and I thoroughly enjoy your subject. Vinegar of course can be understood a few different ways, but I like the interpretation that we at least on Earth have gotten ourselves into a bit of a pickle.
Wonderful and a most enjoyable read today. :)

Your description is excellent, Dera, and it works well with the quirky triolet poem form. However, what really entrances me is the quirky picture. I find it most unusual. Kate xx

I like the fun picture and you worked in a happy beat for your imaginative pickled universe triolet. And well, maybe a candy bar might be more satisfying than pickled planets. Lol.

This delightfully silly triolet made me laugh, and I bet kids would love it. Uni-verse, Multi-verse, and now a Pickled Mini-verse. I've been exposed to so many new poetic forms during this poetry challenge that I think these three could well be added to the list. Your write is skillful as well as entertaining, not easy to add enjambment to the triolet.
Thanks for sharing
Stay safe and blessed, Julia

I'm realizing my memory for forms is slipping with age. I just went off to refresh myself:
"A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines.
Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines
repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well.
The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital
letters representing the repeated lines.
(Grin)--- I'm now refreshed on what a Triolet is and YOU wrote it perfectly! (As if there was a doubt!)
Vinegar! It seems to preserve everything!
Nice one Debra.

There is no set syllable count, although the preferred one for repeating forms is the standard of eight syllables but there are many good examples around using iambic pentameter and similar meters."

You've written a triolet Debra, and a good one, the two repeating lines need to be good ones in the process of writing these, and you've done a darn good job, well done, blessings Roy
