This blurb, A Brief Personal Fitness Program, seems to be giving some timely advice to someone to let facts tell the story, not let the story pass for facts.

You are very physical in your wording, Jenny. :) When one runs their mouth without thinking a foot is inserted. When one starts "jumping to conclusions" both feet go in. Yet, try as you may to "wrestle with your conscience" it is still hard not to stretch the truth. Guess I have to "shape up." Thank for sharing. :)

It's so nice to see you doing pun stories again, Lisa May. I've missed them. Keep doing fun stories like this and you'll CLIMB the ladder of success in no time. Thank you for a much-needed smile.

Thanks for your encouragement in this. I do seem to have a knack in this area of language. My dear Dad would be proud of me... he loved puns.

Yes, your dad would definitely be proud!

My dad was more of a regular joke person. (He was the only one in the family who could tell a joke to the punchline without backtracking to include missed information.) My uncle, on the other hand, never met a pun he didn't use or abuse. I'm aggravated to admit this, but he's actually very funny. Of course, every time he sends me a pun, I have to respond in kind, so I suppose I should thank him for honing my skills. Let's just say my puns are sharp, and right to the point.

Not only do I love the picture I love the message. Truth and honesty are something that seems rather in short supply in this day and age. A life lesson we all should learn.

Thanks for this super review. It's a worry how standards have slipped with integrity.

The illustration is hilarious, but your words speak wise truth and should be a message to all. You cleverly used physical fitness terminology (run, jump, step, wrestle, stretch and lift), but the idea is clear. You need to change your mental gymnastics.

Run, jump, take steps, wrestle, fit stretching, lift, shape-up! All words from the vocabulary of a fitness professional. I know, I worked in the industry for 40 years. I love this quirky play on words that describe what many people do regularly, but don't always enjoy.

You left out the exhortation to punch your weight apart from that all the standard superfit comments are there in this amusing little piece. 'Guts and determination, gentlemen' was a frequent exhortation of the Physical training instructors in the Royal Marines.

Thanks for reviewing. Our old hockey coach used to exclaim: 'Guts and determination, ladies'. Maybe she used to be a Royal Marine, haha - she came from Poole.

Lol. This is terrific as you always know how to combine the most amount of idiomatic speech and somehow tell a logical story! I think this would have been perfect for the Dribble Flash Fiction contest. I'm too busy panting to "run my mouth" while getting fit.

Thanks for your review. (I can't run and talk either... good at multi-tasking otherwise.)
I have another idea for the dribble contest.

One of your very very clever and fun writing with great advice.
Brilliant presentation using a fitness metaphor. The truth is one thing that we need to get ship shape on!
Best wishes,
Mary

Another of your clever and witty pieces! You do these so well, and I like the fact that behind the humour there are lots of pieces of wisdom for everyday life.
