Dear Dragonpoet, Thank you for your review and the five stars. My son died more than twenty years ago when he was 27, but the words I wrote for his committal ceremony have been hidden away until the day I felt ready to share them. FanStorians have been most gracious and kind in their responses to these words, reducing me to tears more than once, which is an indication to me that there was still an appreciable amount of unresolved grief lurking in there after all this time. I guess I was so busy being the stoic wife and grandmother, I forgot to let my own feelings out.
Naughty Grandma! My bad!! cheers Cass

You're welcome, Cass. I guess that grief is always their and we just learn to live with it.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Cassie,
It's a terrible thing to lose any family member, but a child has to be the most difficult. I hope it never happens to me.
You picked a great way to set your son's ashes free. I'm sure he would be pleased.
This life we live on earth is so short, whether 7 or 97. It's a drop in the bucket when compared to eternity in Heaven. So many wonders await us there.
I have a place picked out for my ashes. The first time I saw it, I claimed it. When I turned 16, my uncles started taking me on hunting trips to the little log cabin that my grandfather built back in the early 50's. On one particular hunt, I ventured between 2 brooks, and pressed up the hill. My uncles told me to stay between the brooks, and I wouldn't get lost. It worked. And I found a wonderful nook where a buck had made a huge rut. What a beautiful spot! A nice resting place.
Thanks for sharing this poem!
Hugs,
Kimbob

Dear Kimbob, Thank you for your review and the five stars. Thank you also for your remarks regarding our choice of where to commit his ashes. It was a place he loved and was very happy there. There was never any doubt in our mind that this was what he'd have wanted. I commend your forethought on choosing a place for yourself, well before time. It is most prudent
and thoughtful of you. Yes, Heaven is full of wonders
and I hop to see them one day. Don't we all? BTW I LOVE the Easter Bunny make-up, Kimbob, a delightful touch of whimsy. cheers Cassie

I love this poem
It is so simple, so sincere and heartfelt. I love that you scattered your son's ashes by the river. How wonderful.
I was so inspired by you I wrote a poem just now called " River Wild". Maybe you would like it...
Your poem was a pleasure to read. Thanks for sharing love.

Dear Carlo's girl, Thank you for your review and the AWESOME SIX STARS.I am happy to record that your recently composed poem "River Wild" has been read
and reviewed. Most favourably in fact. I took a quick look through your portfolio and am genuinely impressed. You have an ability to write on almost any subject which will stand you in good stead as your experience grows and your reach extends. Thank you for writing it. I feel privileged to be the first to have read it and comment upon it.
Just one thing though. Heath's ashes were placed in the river, not alongside.'Scuse me, I'm just a nit picking fuss pot. cheers Cass

Im sorry... I do remember that detail now. What a beautiful name Heath is. I am sorry for your loss; keep on writing and keep the faith

This is so beautiful. I think saying goodby to precious loved ones is the hardest thing we have to do on earth. This is very well written to express your feelings. I love the hope in it.

Comment from Janice Canerdy
Loss of a loved one is grievous regardless of a person's beliefs about the afterlife, but for those who believe in the Lord and Heaven as you (and I) do, the loss is somewhat easier to bear. Your poem is deeply personal and moving--so lovely.

I think this (and your ceremony) was a beautiful way to memorialize your beloved son. To go back to nature is something we all will do eventually, and it's a lovely thing. I am sorry for your loss, but I know you will see him again someday.
