'My Identical Sons in-Law,' is an extremely well-written and entertaining piece. This talented poet's work was a privilege to both read and review. Good luck with the contest. Please let me know how you get on?

They ought to be blushing red to be so respected by a mother-in-law. That in itself is an accomplish few married men can say truthfully as
m-i-l's are not normally kind.

Tom, you speaketh the truth! Mine was a nightmare, but something good came out of it, and that was that I swore to be the best darn mother in law in the world! Now you know why I wrote this poem! Haha! Thank you my friend for reviewing my poem. I hope you liked it.

That is an excellent strategy, There is no good reason to ever spark rivalry between sons or daughters in-law. If you can treat them equally, the dividends will be many. Encouraging competition can spread to the children and others, not a good scenario.

I loved it. My mother in-law and I were friends. My wife and my mother were also good friends

I enjoyed your poem detailing your daughters' successful marriages to good men, where their identicality is through your own observation and opinion rather than their actual similarity.

Suggestion:
Perhaps that tricky line could read:
The other had all alongside!

I think the punctuation in the previous line should be:
But one eloped, all by themselves;

The main thing is that you get along with your son-in-laws and appreciate each of them for who they are, it is very difficult welcoming strangers into your family and you just hope that everybody gets along, I enjoyed your fine rhymes and fun sentiments, love Dolly x

Thanks Dolly! I truly appreciate your kind review, I'm hoping that's what people took away from this, was that although they are so different, I see them equally as special, for who they are. I feel blessed to know that my daughters and grandkids are treated with love and respect. Sometimes I just need to write light heartedly and this was pretty much a way to give myself a smile today. Thanks again Dolly!

This is a well-written poem and quite interesting. It is hard to treat them just the same, I've found, but it is worth the try. You might want to change this one line: . . .family (stay) awhile . . . Best of luck in the contest.

Carol you are a sweetheart. I really appreciate you catching that.
I went back and edited right away. That's what happens when I rush a poem, but still didn't catch it while proofreading. Thank you for that.
I guess I love them (almost) equally, because I love my daughters equally.
And truly its hard to stay with reality when trying to write a light hearted poem like this. So between you and me, one is just a little tiny bit more special. Haha. Thanks again Carol!

Just loved your sense of humour and exuberant enthusiasm, it's very much tongue in cheek and delightfully skittish. That's the definition of equality and acceptance loving them as their own, I have two sons in law, both brilliant hubbies and dad's, so they're mine alright, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thank you Roy, as I think that's mostly my style. I like to laugh and laughing at myself is one way to achieve that. However I always appreciate your sweet & kind words. You are such a blessing to me Roy!

I only have one piece of constructive criticism: it should be "sons-in-law," not "son-in-laws." Otherwise, I think it's great. Thanks for sharing this. Best wishes.

What a great way to use the suggested words. I love your poem. So glad that even though your sons-in-law are different, you treat them both the same and love them. They have made your daughters happy and thus are part of your family. Great rhyming and a fun poem to read.

Anne, once again you are so kind, as I really worried about the stumbling with too many syllables where I told of them taking my daughters for a bride. There was no way to cut that down, without losing the jest of the the two different types of marriage. So thank you again Anne, as I always admire your work and truly respect your opinions.
