My grandson calls a lawn full of dandelions gone to seed "a field of wishes!". He's not wrong you know... Our inner child knows all the magic!

Hi Debra,
Dandelions were adewpearl's (Brooke) favorite flower. She often wrote a poem about them. Such a shame she is gone. It's funny what people see in dandelion seeds. They might be a soldiers jumping into eastern France during WWII, or a poet's poems for a NaPoWriMo contest!
I like the assonance of soft "u" sounds in "clusters of fluffy", and the strong "e" sounds in "prepare for release".
Also, the alliteration of "parachutes prepare".
Nice entry for the Lune Poetry contest... Good Luck!

This is a lovely interpretation of the dandelion, Debra. I have always found it sad that this flower is considered as a weed. It has not only the beauty that you have seen, but is also much-vaunted as a lettuce leaf 'at least in France).

Thank you for your kind feedback. I love dandelions...but only to look at and to blow....! I have tasted them before and found them to be quite bitter - an acquired taste, perhaps?!

I love the title and the photo close-up of the dandelions with their spores lifting off into the air. What a wonderful example of life moving on. And comparing the spores to parachutes is quite clever and creative. Thousands of seeds flying over the land to plant new plants in order to continue the journey of life.

The lune form is not as easy as it might first seem to be, and your wonderful poem exhibits all the reasons why -- it evokes much imagery while amusing and charming the reader with clever word choices such as "fluffy". I can feel that texture!

Ah, LOVE this little piece of poetry, Debra! Those seven words are perfect for this image. I have always loved blowing wishes from dandelions. Now, I do feel guilty, knowing they will land in someone else's yard, hehe. Blowing lots of good wishes your way!
