Sensational! Time is but a blink. This is so well constructed and heartwarmingly relatable. On the flipside this passage of time is so very true and daunting. It sounds to me; however, you would trade it for the world. Well done!

Thank you John for such an admirable review. I appreciate it more than words can say. (Lol, imagine a poet at loss for words)
I can tell you that I appreciate your kind words & love that so many others understand the feeling of; it was just yesterday, then I blinked & 20, 30, 40 years were gone! You are exactly right, that I would not trade it for anything in the world! Thanks again John & God Bless!

I couldn't agree more. Where have the years gone? It's frightening how they speed by, and the older we get the faster it goes. It's unfair. It should be the other way roun. No, don't ever take life for granted. Good luck. Ulla:)))

A very nice poem for this contest, it will get my vote, good luck. The poem is a good look at how time does pass quickly. We never had kids but watched others that did. The poem reminds me of the song "Turn Around" done by a lot of artists, The Brothers Four, I liked the version by Harry Belafonte. Good job.

Very well done and so true for all of us as we reach that 'certain' age. Funny how you can see the age when you look in the mirror and experience the age when you go down memory lane, but you don't feel the age when you're busy living! Just don't blink!. Loved it. good luck in the contest. ann

Ann, I can't thank you enough for your kind review & words of encouragement! When I started this poem, it was getting too mushy, because I am such an emotional person. So I decided to go down a different avenue & because of reviews like yours, I'm so thankful I did.
    Thanks again & God Bless!

Dear Author:
Your poem tells a story that may have a rocky beginning, but the ending is sweet, and shows that all your hardships and joys were worth it.
I like your meter and rhyme.
I like the last paragraph, because it deals with a subject we all must go through in life.
Excellent work, writer.
Good luck in the contest and with all your writing.
Best wishes,
Cindy

This is a very well written and so true poem about our families growing up so fast and if we blink we miss some of the best parts. You used great descriptive words and very cute imagery. Best wishes in the contest. Teri

Your poem is skillfully written, moving, and powerfully descriptive of life well-lived and blessed throughout the decades. "Blink" is effectively used to express just how fast the changes seem to come. Favorite stanza--the last one.

Hello Poet, yes, the years certainly fly by. One day you're a child and the next day your child is grown. Your poem reads and flows well, and your message is clear. I especially liked:

I'm soon the age my parents were,
When I thought, they were extinct.
(This is so true, and how about when you look in the mirror and you
see one or both of them looking back at you? It happens.)

Thank you for sharing your family story with us. As this is a contest entry, I wish you good luck ... and please don't blink. Smiles,
LateBloomer

Hahaha! That is so funny that you mentioned looking in the mirror & seeing them look back. I used to do that & I Would say, "mom, is that you?" As everyone still says to this day, how much I look like her.
    However she died very young from pancreatic cancer & now my heart has an empty spot, as I write about in, "Her Loving Touch." & also the photo is her & my two oldest kids. My daughter then bought me a small book, and these words are on the cover;
Mother, I caught my reflection in a window, and I was surprised to see you looking from my eyes, back at me. How fortunate for me, that there was a you I could become as I grew!" 🥲
Anyway I can't thank you enough for your kind words & the chuckle!
    God Bless!

Dear Mystery Poet, when you are revealed, I'll check out that poem.
My mother also died young--Ovarian Cancer--so I can relate to you and your loss. However, I am finding her looking back at me in the mirror.
    Good luck in the contest.
