This poem of abcb quatrains show the truth of the statement,"Opposites attract. But you do have traveling and faith in common and now children and the extended family from them. Differences make life more fun.

Thank you Paul. I am astonished by all the people who have shared the same info about their marriage. I married at 18, and now that is unheard of. However in retrospect, it wasn't the best way to grow up. Fortunately I eventually found my maturity about the same time I seriously found the Lord. Amazing how that helps a marriage! And the older I get, the more I love him.
We will be married 48 yrs in May, and since we dated for 2 yrs, I'm so thankful for a half century with the same man. I'm sorry Paul. I kinda got carried away. But thanks for your kind review and God Bless!

I met my wife in high school. She was a freshman and I was a sophomore. We went together for six years and married between my junior and senior year in college. We have been married for fifty-six years.

I love it. My wife are so tuned into each other that we often wind up at the same conclusion simultaneously. We have been married for nearly 49 years. Sometimes she makes me so angry that I could scream, but that is quickly ended by the thoughts of what the heck would I ever do without her in my life. Sometimes she catches me just looking at her. She becomes self conscious and demands to know what I am looking at, I tell her I am looking at my reason for living. and she blushes uncontrollably each time.

You are so incredibly sweet & your wife is a very lucky & blessed woman!
It is a horrifying thought that someday, one of us will face the reality of sitting in the living room, with an empty chair, where our spouse used to sit.
I shiver at the thought, so no matter how angry he makes me at times, pride is not allowed! We cannot go to bed without forgiveness, as I'm sure that's a policy you both follow too. It sounds like you're one year ahead of us, as we will be married 48 years in May. (We dated 2 yrs) We eloped when I was only 18, so even I wasn't sure of it lasting. Lol, by the time I was mature enough, I had 3 kids & wasn't about to walk out then! When I truly found God, I learned then how to be a Godly wife! And he eventually followed my lead! Now I can't imagine my life without him! Lol. Sorry, I guess that was a given, from my poem. Anyway thank you for your kind & encouraging review & God Bless!

The thought of looking over & seeing one of our chairs empty, is a reality one of us will have to deal with someday. And no amount of anger is worth living with that, if you don't practice instant forgiveness in the marriage. I shiver at the thought of it! So I hope others will benefit from the message.

[7th stanza- 4th line] - adding the word "the" after 'all' corrects this very minor gap in rhythm. The author's notes enhances the write, and I thank you for sharing. What a nice poem to read on a cloudy day! I liked the references to things that anyone who has lived longer than 50 years would recognize and relate to. Your poem flows and has a wholesomeness to it that was wonderful to feel. It sounds like you have lived your best life! Great submission.
